If I may , can I ask a question, have you ordered yours direct from the factory? Since that would be at full RRP of £350, just curious.......

Darren,
I was thinking the same, the only think I can think of is that Schumacher list there price with out VAT:thumbdown:, so people think it is cheaper.

GRIFF55
20-09-2008, 10:54 AM
But if you look in the for sale section, he has a new sponsor that is why he is selling his s4. The cat must be cheaper on a direct purchase with a team drive?

DCM

Andy, I think that is more, the chassis he runs more than sponsors...

Indeed it is up to each and every customer where they buy from, I am not questioning that, just interested to see (as Mark has said) if people A, would buy from the factory direct at full price and B, were not aware that the VAT got added, making the factory THE dearest place to get one from.

Pherhaps being heavily discounted is NOT what the public always look for.....

Yep.
Theres a bit of a preview/review with that SX and the Masami worlds winnng cat of 87 in this months mag, and then I'll be doing a build up and track test in a future issue, probably the xmas issue.
Hopefully the track test will be at worksop this weekend...just waiting for car to turn up!

Here are some pictures of my CAT SX which is waiting for the body, ESC and receiver. I have purchased some of the Lipo parts so that I can run NiMh or Lipo. I am using the Demon 5000mah Lipo pack with their CF locators which went on really well. All I had to buy from Schumacher was the Lipo battery starps and post, Lipo Servo mounts, front belt idler pulley holder and two bearings. I have put 35wt oil in the front shocks after finding the 25wt a little too thin.

After seeing a couple of the CATsx buggies running at my local club here in Queensland,Australia I knew i just had to have one. The car certainly looks like no other turning out some very sweet laps and once I got to see the chassis in the flesh I was just super impressed with the quality. I think Schumacher has taken a great leap forward with this car and it could be the start of some very big things to come. Antway here's some pics of my CATsx keeping to the same theme as my cougar2 works buggies.

Depends on the weather - though if I do go I'll only be running 2wd becasue I haven't got the Cat body done yet.

Are those tamiya wing mounts on your car?

Did you have to elongate the bottom hole to get them to fit?

I'd have to search the internet for parts, because my local tracks wouldnt be able to get parts in for me. Wes broke his predator in half here and cant get parts so it just sits on his shelf. So he bought a B44 to get parts easier.
Same thing with the Cat.

Honestly, getting parts is super simple. Ordering from Schumacher USA takes a day or 2 to get parts. Get your LHS owner to get set up as a Schumacher dealer. Just give Adam a ring, and get it set up

Im in the US. Car works AWESOME. It doesnt break like the 44s, or any other car really. Its just tough as hell LOL, believe me.... I have put this poor thing through abuse to see what will break. Nothing so far:eh?::p:D

Hi guys,

Here are some pics of my nearly completed CAT.

I will take some better ones when the car is completely finished. Getting ready for my first off road nationals since 1993 and my first modern off road meeting in nearly 13 years! I have been running vintage off road only for the last few years - hardly cutting edge stuff - but alot of fun. What brought me back ito be honest is the CAT....I have never been one to run what everyone else does - I have always liked something different (NOT at the expense of being competitive though). The CAT is a breath of fresh air in a cookie cutter world of 4wd's at the moment. After having a drive of a friends car at a recent meeting - I had to have one. Off road has bitten me again big time.

The paint scheme is pretty simple and no where near as complicated as some on here - I kinda like it though.

Thanks for looking.

Indoors - in the workshop - just after trimming and fitting:

You need to use B44 front hexes to use B44 front wheels. Def true for the AE std wheels, and i would assume same for the JC ones.

bender
17-01-2009, 01:43 AM
Is this because of how deep the hex is in the JC wheel?

Could you reduce the depth of the hex in the wheel so it doesn't rub?

Which way round are you using the kit hexes? They are supposed to go on before the pin. I can see if you put the pin in then the hex then the wheels might not bind.....

IDK how Adam did his

If you put the hex on after the pin, you still need the washer on the other side, and I think they would rub that wouldnt they?

standard wheels is:- washer, pin, wheel.

hex wheels manaul is:- hex, pin, wheel.

to fit b44 wheels and rulux is:- washer, pin, hex, wheel.

by placing the hex on the outside is a risk of losing them, but no mods are needed to allow for the extra hex depth within b44 and rulux wheels.

you'r right there Si, if you fit the kit hex, like it says in the manual, then they will bind with rulux wheels, i'd never tried putting the washer first, i had the deeper b44 hex as spares, so just fitted them,

Yes, the springs on the front were yellows:p And there marked from the real black ones. I tried to get a good angle, but they shine and look just like the actual black springs. Aww man! I am afraid to ask, but what broke?

This is my CAT before the battle with the nitro 1/8th buggies....1/8th buggies won the battle, my CAT in 3-4 pieces...

The whole front are gone (unrepairable)..chassis, upper, bulkhead was bent....if possible, I would take some pictures and post here. I think I might as well buy a S1 kit and use whatever that is left for parts.

It is not the CAT is not strong...just not strong enough compare to the 10 plus NITRO 1/8th Buggy and Truggy. Lesson learned.

Which way round are your rear wishbones?

MHeadling
30-12-2009, 01:15 PM
Normal way, I have re-drilled the arms on the back, I like it with the shocks round this way and with the new rear bulk head it takes 2 mins to swap around

I need to drill my new wishbones. I have been running them on the back, but wishbones reversed. That reminds me I need to prep some losi shocks againas I am running schumachers at the mo.

Got some 7.5 yokes on order

MHeadling
30-12-2009, 01:57 PM
Yes I like it with the Losi shocks, well till the Big Bores are out:

Below is a shock set up DC gave me for the Losi shocks

Hi Mark, orange pistons in the front blue in the back, a 2 mill limiter in the rear shock, inside in the oil, and full length ball cups, long, cut down to about 3/4 length, I had to play a bit to get the droop just right, today I had 37.5 in front and 30 in the rear, But I think I was oversprung and too thick today, couldnt be bothered to change, haha, i usually run green and pink springs, I would like to have tried 35 F and 25 R and 1 spring rate lighter all round, only cause it was so slippery today!

This was from a cold EPR meeting hence the last bit about it being slippery.

I find the 7.5 blocks calm the sterring down a bit, the std ones give it a bit more mid corner. Depends on how you like your car set up.

I have tried it with the wishbones reversed but it was very short that way, most of the local guys seem to drill the arms on the rear, Niggs etc and they seem to know what they are doing!

mikeyscott
30-12-2009, 02:31 PM
Good ole DC!

Similar to my Losi shocks except i've got 27.5 in therear and 32.5 on the front. May go to 37.5 in the front, but I am not running until petit
