View Full Version : Issues with a Nosram Comet Evo

Hi,

I've been running this esc for a while now and a couple of meetings ago, my car stopped dead after 4 mins. At this point I changed the motor and sensor and it was fine until 5 secs before the end of my second final when it happened again.

I then raced a full meeting fine.

Then, last night, it stopped twice around 4 mins again. I managed to spot the lights flashing - red and blue. These very quickly reset and went back to operating. These lights indicate a rotor issue. However the fact I used two different motors discounts this. Not only have I changed the motor, but sensor wire and lipo packs. I've also tried with and without the lipo/ thermal cutoff enabled and disabled with the same results.

In all cases, I've still had steering and the lose of power is not gradual, its instant. Nor is it just under acceleration.

Any thoughts?

try rebinding receiver then program the esc again

Is the sensor port on the speedo slightly loose

it doesn't seem to be and when its happened its never been a result of distress ie a knock or crash

Try another sensor lead i know mine occasionally mine go as its at a tight angle
But they can go and you dont notice they have gone
I would take it all out and run it free away from the car and wiggle the lead
if still fine take your motors to bits and check them too if not take it back to schumacher with the original recipt

OK, that's a good one and rules out my first thoughts!

LRP/Nosram speedos are very sensitive to sensor leads and signals from the sensors in the motor. Whilst they work they are fine, but once a problem arises they don't like dealing with intermittent faults.

I suggest trying another speedo to see if you can rule out an internal fault that is probably intermittent. Those are the worst!

It definitely feels like it's an intermittent fault to me. I plan to change all the wires and the sensor wire. That will have changed everything else that could have effected it leaving the actually esc unit itself.

Could be a dry joint on the ESC to lipo or motor
