We have used one with the DX3C and DX3R and it worked perfectly.

It should work with the dx3s as well, that's dsm2 compatible.

I would say yes as the orange receivers are dsm2 an the listing for the transmitter says compatible with dsm an dsm2

The orange receivers will work with any DSM2 transmitter. Are you sure your Losi Tranny was a DX3s?
I have a DX4s and they work fine.

My dx3c and dx3r pro both only say dsm on them, but they both work with the orange rxs
Maybe it was an OE version with some deleted features?
And FWIW, I have found that the dsm2 stuff takes longer to bind, 30+ seconds in some cases, and it sometimes fails if you hold the rx and tx too close to each other. Think it mentions that in the instructions.
I'm running the orange ones in my TC and my 8th.
