What kind of tools do I need to shorten the servo/esc 3 wire leads.

You can either open up the servo and re-solder the shortened wire directly to the board or cut the wire and fit a new plug. You can get away with using pliers for the connectors if you're careful or buy the crimping tool.
I just bought one from my local model shop. £22. Haven't tried it yet tho.

They pretty much like mine. Mine came from Ripmax and were over twice that price. Doh! :bored:

Just be aware that no matter how you shorten your leads, if the servo is a SAVOX, then it totally voids the warranty. :thumbdown:
It doesnt matter if your crimping tool costs over £100 and is expertly done, a short lead according to savox is a modification and they do not allow any kind of modifications.
The savox warranty ain't really worth a toss anyways seen a few refused replacements an with the card at that

Or shrink wrap it, its a lot neater and looks a hell of a lot better
