What does anyone else recommend for a mixed carpet/gym floor track?

You haven't really specified what you were after, tyre advise? set-up? car? breakfast?

Tyres or chassis?
Tyres, I'd use Schumacher Minipin Yellow compound. These will provide high traction on the carpet, and a little loose on the slippy. The contrast between the two surfaces will be high
A lot of people also us the Schumacher Minispike Yellow Compound. These will offer higher grip on the slippy floor, and reasonable grip on the carpet, with the contrast between the two surfaces will be lower.
Regarding chassis, go with whatever is popular and well supported at your local club. I'd like to think one of the leading UK chassis manufacturer's, from a UK model shop.

I had some more detail at first Dan, but thought that may have beeb putting people off, so I trimmed it back to the current question...and it was tyre question...my bad!
Carpet running was fine, but on the gym floor was a nightmare in places, seemed to be where there were loads of court markings using tape.
In those patches, braking could be a nightmare.
Car is a Yokomo Bmax2 on Mini-spikes all round.

What front tyres are you running? If you're running a spike on the front then your front might just be getting a lot of grip which is making the rear feel like it has none. Try cut staggers up front!
May also be worth posting your set-up in the Yokomo section and asking. The kit rear Yokomo springs are pretty stiff too, you might find changing to lighter rear spring will help you generate that grip.

Mini-spikes all round Dan, been advised against cut staggers on 4wd, on my Losi 22 by all means, but not the 4x4 Yokomo.
I was running an old HB D4 Cyclone and was getting nowhere, but recently acquired the Yokomo and overnight Ive seen improvements on club nights.
Speed is turned back a bit, so a lot less whanging it off the wall all night, but it does run pretty stable on the whole using min-spikes or pins all round.

Your post says it's a bmax2...hence the cut staggers suggestion!
If it's a Bmax4 (II or III) your using then your right, it would be different!
I tend to use yellow mini pins all round on mixed carpet/polish floors...as that gives the most responsive grip level generally. Mini spikes would be vague at best in comparison...usually! But it does depend on your floor...as they vary a lot!
Using mini pins I tend to trim off the outer rows of pins up front to get the balance right.
Various options in setup to try after that if they just don't grip right...posting your setup would help...but as Dan says, try that in the Yokomo section :)

Are you on about 4WD?... you stated it's a B-max 2 (2WD) in your first post like blue_pinky said? Which is where I would recommend the cut staggers.
There's plenty of things you can do on a 2WD to gain traction
- Less bitey front tyres
- Softer back-end
- Less anti-squat
- More rear toe-in
- Slipper adjustment
- Turn your end point down
- Softer motor
- Gear the car up
etc etc

My bad....its the 4wd Yoko! (I blame the medication m'lud )
Im not even ready to work out a setup yet, Im running as is and getting used to how it feels. Although I did check out some indoor setups and will have a look at any differences between those and what I have now.
I have to say that its a cracking drive and has raised my times and lowered amonut of times I prang in a race, nowhere near as frequent and I can see what I did wrong to bounce the car.
