CAT SX middle belt too short?

Take a look at this picture and tell me if the belt is too short. My thumb has the belt fully stretched, and there's no way it's gonna stretch more to go on the pulley. Am I doing something wrong here? The belt is the 140T one.
Picture is a little crappy, but you see enough to get the point.

140 is the correct size. You won't ever just be able to loop it onto that front pully, you need to take the pully off, wrap the belt around it, and put the pully (with belt) back on.

Also, check that you have the belt on correctly at the back - i'm thinking check that you don't have it wrapped around the main layshaft as well.

Well, I'm a retard. Found the problem. When i put the belt in, in the first place, I wrapped it down under the spur gear which meant I also wrapped it around the slipper/spur shaft. Cant be bothered taking a pic of it.
