Has anybody tried to use 3 bearings on the lay shaft?

I have noticed (only owned the car a week) that the small bearing on the layshaft is a major weakness in this car.

The gearbox halfs both have room for a bearing so I tried to use a second bearing.

I blew it to pieces in 5 mins just turning it buy hand, a mistake I won't make again at £3 a bearing.

Got me thinking though! Has anybody tried to take the excess metal of the layshaft gear. I believe this to be the culprit of the exploded bearing. was going to try take the excess off and try the third bearing mod again.

Has anybody done this? Does it work and did you notice if the other 2 bearings lasted longer?

The additional weight is minimal and I believe the performance gain / longevity would be far more of a benefit.

Cheers

I carved out the casing and dropped in a larger bearing, may have been a front wheel type, will have to open up and check, never had a problem since.

Cheers for that. Will try my version first as I think it will look a bit neater and work better due to the extra bearing on the shaft.

I have been using 3 bearings for years. :)

I forgot to mention that I have to remove some plastic so that the middle ball bearing can be pressed through the gearbox, then nothing will bind
