Do any of the decent car speedos from Hobbyking have a blinky mode?

think I read on here somewhere you can flash hobbywing software onto the 120 amp jobbies so I would think so
I have a s/h one and programme card on its way ill let you know looking forward to having a play

The one I got - the Turnigy 120amp flashes when you initially connect it up and calibrate it.
When I connected the setup box all the boost etc was at 0. Once I altered this to something other than 0 - it stopped flashing - so I assume it's in 'blink mode' as it 'blinks' when all the turbo stuff is set to 0 :)
I know that the 120A "xcar" range they do takes the Hobbywing 2.1 firmware as I've flashed the latest stock onto the one I've got in my hauler as a spare ESC. I guess as it takes that it'll take the blinky one as well.

fidspeed, have you had chance to play with this yet?

What setup box did you use? Is there any way to alter timing?

hi graham
i got my turningy trackstar 120 amp and program box yesterday
if i reset speedo to default on programme box it says 0 timing and LED does indeed blink (previous poster is correct) as soon as i programme some timing in led stops blinking
so i guess that works
tempted to try flash v3 hw software onto it hope i dont kill it (turnigy prog box doest not appear to have usb coneection to update software on it
did try my hw box on v2 style software would not connect to esc
i think the tracktar range may be more of a copy of hw v3 than the x-car range which is more like hw v2 speedos

Hi Graham,
Yes you can put Hobbywing 508 blinky software on that 120A Xcar already done it!
You just need to down load the Hobbywing V3 software from Hobbywing website onto a Windows PC and use simple usb to speedo lead as below.
http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/store/__31858__USB_Programming_Adapter_for_Hobbyking_X_C ar_120A_60A_ESC.html
The led flashes red in Neutral.
The Hobbywing software contains all the various versions for stock & mod.
Cheers Paul
What Paul said, except that I used the Hobbywing program box as the interface.
Once flashed with the Hobbywing software the program box works with it as well or you can use the Hobbywing computer program to change everything exactly as you would with a Hobbywing speedo.

I know its a bit of a late reply but I use one of there Trackstar 120a 1cell esc's in my Mardave GT12 and it's very very good! Been using it for around 6mths with no issues at all in 1cell 13.5t blinky.
Good punch, smooth throttle and brakes and easy to set-up with the program card and does blinky when set to 0deg timing.
Its got a 3.5t limit on 1cell lipo and 4.5t on road and 6.5t off road on 2cell lipo.
Would be nice if this would accept the hobbywing software but I have no way of testing and its my only esc at the moment!

orders from the UK warehouse take around 3-4 days to arrive once processed.
Great info guys!
Correct me if I'm wrong but when I connected the HW box to the X-car ESC it said it actually came with HW firmware :D And I can program it

Might be a longshot but can the resistor pack on the Trackstar 120a 1cell be replaced with a single or double resistor to save space as its rather big! If yes which one do i need!
Also been looking on ebay and it looks the same esc as the sky toro 120a :-

G.
The one you asked me about and linked to (Turnigy 120 Trackstar) is indeed the one I have.
I got the LCD programming no for it. Seems very good - I'm at Chadderton tomorrow if you want to have a look at one.

I’ve been running this now in my Centro for a while and its excellent product
Personally I feel brakes are a little soft and require 100% setting as well as a tad of drag brake. Punch is extreme over 5 but apart from its a very smooth unit and recommended.
Currently matched with a Speed Passion 7.5 v3 and 65c lipos, motor & unit dose get warm indoors but I would expect that with the speedo setting I run.
As for set up you must get the turbo programing card for it to do any settings. Factory settings come with reverse set to delay then reverse, Punch is set to highest setting and there is a small amount of boost, and turbo is off.
handset calibration for mine was as others have listed under the file section names calibration 2.
Calibrating
I’m not sure if the instructions in other comments and in the files section are inaccurate,
or simply written for a different firmware revision than mine.
On my ESC the LEDs would start out being SOLID (not flashing) they will flash while
programming the different positions. Yellow for neutral, Orange for full, Red for reverse. Step by
step instructions go like this:
● Hold the set button and switch on the esc
● Solid Yellow LED indicates ready to calibrate NEUTRAL
● Leave throttle neutral, press SET, yellow LED flashes while reading NEUTRAL
● Solid Orange LED indicates ready to calibrate Full Throttle
● With throttle to full, press SET and the Orange LED will flash while calibrating
● Solid Red LED indicates the ESC is ready to calibrate reverse
● With throttle in full reverse, press SET and the Red LED will flash while calibrating
● When the esc is done calibrating full reverse it will flash all three LEDs in sequence to
indicate programming is done.
With one of my radios I had a problem reading full reverse.
I had to set the throttle to like 90% reverse. Otherwise it would remain solid red even when
pressing set.
hope this helps
