Has anyone had experience of using the bbk timing program with Windows 8. I would like to know if you have had any issues with it and would you recommend using it. In particular, are the 'voices' any better than W7 ? They were ok with XP but got worse with Vista and W7.
Thanks
Mike

I've read somewhere that you can put it into admin mode by right clicking on the icon. This will then allow you to run it on other systems. Hth

Has anyone tried turning off UAC? Has that worked?

Don't do it Mike, stick with Windows 7. Win 8/8.1 is just awful to use.

What do you mean by "voices"? The speech generated for the race announcer?

I have managed to get it running under Windows 7 by right mouse clicking the icon and selecting run as administrator but had no luck at all under Windows 8.1 I think this is down the a compatability issue with the Broland Database Engine that is not compatible with W8. I think there maybe a new version of bbk around but not sure if that cures the Windows 8 issue.

Some sound issues are I believe due to how Vista handles .WAV files. There is a Vista patch by BBK which cures the issue.

We have run on windows 8 for 8 + months but the laptop updated to 8.1 and we had a few issues.
Run serial usb lead not network cable this weekend.
simple run program as XP when you load it up.
Have had an issue with running RIDE score board and live timing together but everything else as been ok.
We have changed dongle to MiWi to run live timing will update if we can.

We run windows 8 and bbk and it does work but it isn't great. As others have said you have to run it as an administrator and using WinXP compatibility mode. It can fall over from time to time and some times it even loads minimised in the taskbar and won't maximise, you need to kill the process and load it again. Windows 7 is on the horizon for our club laptop.

RE Voices, it is a windows problem, they have only had Mcrosoft Mary since Windows Vista (?) so that is the only voice you can use.
If you want more voices to need to run windows NT or earlier
