View Full Version : Stopping SV2 wheelie

I'm running a fairly standard SV2 with added weigh up front and saddle layout batteries. I'm running a 10.5 motor with a small amount of boost at 10000rpm, but nothing much, just enough to stand a chance of staying with the other cars down the straight.
I get no wheelies off the line, or out of corners, but part way down the straight it will pull a wheelie, looks good if I can catch it, but not ideal for racing. There are plenty of other cars much faster than me down the straight, so i'm guessing it is something I can stop with my setup.
Standard springs, 30w oil all round, running on astro with work yellow spikes.
Anything I can try to reduce it ?

could be air getting under the shell at speed mate.

If it's half way down the straight then it points to an esc setting not a car setup issue !
To help this, post what esc you are running and the settings on it !
Someone here should be able to help ?

It's a 120a v2.1 Hobbyking.
Running no turbo at all.
10 deg boost
Boost starts at 10,000rpm
Boost timing is 350rpm/deg
running at 10.5 speed passion.

Turn off the boost and retry
Get a 7.5 or 8,5 motor ditch the boost and maybe back the slipper off/ check its actually working.

not used a hobbyking but try making the rpm/deg a larger figure so the boost comes in more gradualy looks like you get none to full boost over 3500 rpm seems quite a short range

I will try moving the rpm/deg to the highest.
I don't really want to turn the boost off, as without it i'm getting swamped down the straight. If that doesn't work, will try to get hold of a 8.5 motor.
Just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with my car setup before getting another motor.

I feel I should step in here and tell you increasing rpm / degree will make Your problem worse, you need to decrease it as effectively it is your boost rate, ie when you hit turbo/boost on the straights your esc is providing it too early because you have the boost increase rate too high,
Known as I run this esc and have had similar problems - also find the hobbywing software easier to use and understand, so I'd give that a go too,
Odd that you are saying you run no turbo, if I were you id swap it around and use no boost but turbo for the straights :)
