I take it there will be an AMB system running? I can't put the usual ones in a xx4

AmiSMB

The lap counting will be done using AMB system. It can pick up personal transponders and there will also be the chargable handout transponders.

Thanks for the feedback so far. Just thought I would post up some more details of the meeting.

The driver entry will be capped at 80 for both days.
There will be no booking in on the day unless the limit has not been reached and then it will be a 1st come, 1st served basis.
If you want to attend then pre book is the only guarantee.
There will be 10 heats of 8 cars for qualifying.
1 round of timed practice then 4 rounds of qualifying using the FTD format.
Finals will consist of 10 cars with the 'A' finalists having 3 legs.
We will post a preliminary heat list on Thursday 13th November.
Racing will start at 9am Saturday morning. There will be no delays as there is a lot of racing to get through.
As mentioned above the timing will be AMB so please make sure you enter you correct PT number on the form and all other information is correct as making changes on the day takes time. Handout transponders will also be available so don't panic!!
Some details may be subject to change but we hope that things will all work out and run smooth.
If you have any further questions then please post or send me a PM.

Rob.

Just booked Jordan in for both days, enjoyed last year so much........only question, 80 drivers, will there be enough room for pitting in the hall.

smk
13-10-2008, 03:09 PM
Will there be enough room for pitting in the hall.

There's enough room if people pit in a sensible manner. Last year we didn't really use the sides of the hall.

i'd say it will be better than last year as the jumps have all evolved to be better for the cars (ie the springy long landing after the big tabletop), the track layouts are always good plus with the 2 days its just a bigger meeting all round

remember when knighter jumped his b44 so high it clipped the netting :)

I swear that table top slows down time hollywood style so when you jump your car over it it just hangs in the air for a couple of seconds looking cool then goes back to normal speed lands on a marshal ( normaly tris ) and breaks the one part you dont have :D

I wonder what the world record for an electric rc car jump is.

( wanders off to put a 3.5, silly lipo and some " disposable" radio gear in a b4 then starts to calculate the gearing for a terminal speed of 50mph )

new rc car class : extreeeeeeme buggy jumping.

quick buggy + silly ramps + an old matress or 2 + video camera + some decent tunes :woot::woot::woot:

OMG You dont know.......Tony used to race many moons ago, was an F1 racer who also usd to run the infamous "Hampshire Racing Centre" in Basingstoke. His enthusiasm was legendary and he was never too far away from controversy either. His commentating was a joy, it was lively, LOUD and funny and some of his comments were hilariuos.

The race tracks have certainly become a quiet place to be without him and his "Planet Hampshire"

What inserts shall I run in Schumacher yellow mini pins?

If heard it's worth having a large rear wing in 2wd? What's your opinions?

I usually find the Edit purple or the new Schumacher medium green are good. I like the feel of the large rear wing on both 2wd and 4wd. When you go back to a small wing after running a big wing you can really feel the difference.

there's gotta be at least 2

have you jumped the extended tabletop Cris?
after the first GP it was greatly extended with a nice springy long landing ramp

however if you're keen you can land about 30 feet past it if you want!
bit like Shyter with his B4 the other week :o

c0sie
02-11-2008, 12:54 PM
The only table top I abused was the one at '07 MKGP with the noisey landing :D

The bigger, higher, longer and more aggressive they are the better :D

02-11-2008, 04:48 PM
The table top is lethal! The layout a few weeks ago when there was a long run up the potential for air was insane, I managed to launch my cat over two lanes and smash it up. Freakin' awesome!

Bring it on

being that this meeting will only be my first weekend doing off road for about 8 years, can we make the track a little forgiving!!

Has any one got any pics of last years track?

Paul

c0sie
02-11-2008, 08:13 PM
I wouldnt worry too much Paul. The track wont be rediculous, hard to drive, or stupidly dangerous...its just that alot of us are very excited about the meeting and are therefore bigging it up (and maybe making it sound like only the best of the best could master it).

The Newbury lads did a brilliant job last year and made the track suit all driving styles and experiences :)

You can use any motor that takes your fancy mate!!

The meeting will run to BRCA rules in some ways but mainly it's the cars weight you need to be worried about if your using LiPo batteries.
All cars will be checked and if under the weight limit then you WILL NOT be racing, simple as that.

Bring a pit light if you have one. If I remember correctly some areas of the pits needed some more light. The hall itself is spot on but you will need a fast lens for the camera :)

Just want to say a big big thanks to ALL the MK/Newbury crew for putting on another fecking brilliant meeting!!

Track design is sh#t hot, but make sure you 4WD guys keep that bloody door shut!

Came 1st overall in the C, was happy with that bearing in mind all the top drivers who entered. Really enjoyed battling with Flanders through the 3 finals too (yes, we ALL had 3 finals lol)

A final was a pleasure to watch with Pidge, Craggy, Bloomers etc putting on a stunning display for everyone.

Again, thanks for putting the event on, and feel free to put my name on the list for MK GP'09 ;) ;)

For the curious and those wishing to see where it all went wrong, the race results can be accessed here http://www.newburyrcclub.co.uk/raceresults/mkgp08/index.htm (http://www.newburyrcclub.co.uk/raceresults/mkgp08-2wd/index.htm)

Thanks to all competitors for being ready to race when they were supposed to and (usually) being at their marshalling points on time. This meant we were able to crack on and give everyone two practice runs, 4 qualifiers and 3 finals and still be finished by 18:00

Win or lose, I hope everyone had a good day

Awesome day, really enjoyed it. Shame that slippy was sooooo slippy near the doors, really hard work.

3rd leg of the A was awesome, even though I was marshalling you could feel the tension, great show Pidge, Bloomers, Cragg

Just wanted to say a BIG thanks to all the Mk crew and Tony for his commentary, I had a great time.

It was good to see how it's done by the A final lads, well done to Lee on his win.

Iv had txts from the lads I was pitting with, Rich Baker, Vince, Paul and they all had a great time so thanks from all of them.

It was great to chat to the pro drivers and mechanics and fellow oopler's they were all really friendly and helpfull with set up info etc.

If you have never done the Mk Gp meeting like this book yourself in next year, it's deffinatly worth it!!

Roll on next year! Let us know the 4 wd result!

Was a great days racing, loads of track time and Tony's chat over the PA bring back fond memories!!!

Track layout flowed really well, was technical but still able to race hard on it for the finals. I'd go as far as to say it was the best indoor track i've driven on for many, many years and in a lot of ways more fun to drive than quite a few of the national tracks!
The club work their hearts out to make it a blast for all the drivers and I'm agree with Cosie .... put me down to 09 (or when ever the next event is if sooner).

How come this club doesn't go for the indoor finals???

Gutted to be missing the 4wd due to being called into work .... looking forward to the next event.

I had suggested this to Marc Knight but I think it would be down to the club to go through their regional rep...

Awesome race. Thank you all so much for great day racing. I even got a trophy too (ssshhh... no-one needs to know for what final!).

I got a ton of photos, race report coming one day soon. Got to go get parents from airport tonight, got work during the week followed by lots of learning in the evening, so it may take a week or two.
