Hi Guys.

The marshalling for the adult touring car was pretty poor today and during the final we only had two as the kiddies and nippers didn't turn up on time. One little girl kept wandering out on the track during a qualifying heat.

I think it would be a good idea to leave the little ones out of the marshalling until they are older.

Maybe we could have some off road guys do it and we will return the favour of course.

Little nippers marshalling for adult touring car is inappropriate and dangerous and is also not fair on the racers.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Yes I agree, a few years back when TC was just a few not very serious drivers it was not an issue but now we have more interest and faster cars we really do need better marshalling. I and a few others were marshalling both the other on road heats but when it came to our heat it was very hit and miss. In fact in the final there were no proper marshals leaving one of our own who sadly had a broken car so could not race and Sheila. Sheila is not a member and so should not really be marshalling as she is not insured but that would have left one!

We had the same problem in the off- road marshal not turning up to there point or talking to each other !!!

Yes. It wasn't fair on Sheila or Scott, they were both running around trying to keep up.

Did anyone approach a committee member about this today to see if it could have been solved?

The system was being run on automatic so I think there wasn't enough time to solve the problem. The race started and the cars were running when the marshals turned up. They were to late.

Our marshals who were mainly children were to busy doing cartwheels and playing to take any notice. But hey, they are kids and you wouldn't expect anything else anyway.

So can we have adult marshals please.

I will speak to the other commitee members and see what we can do but if a problem is happening on the day please approach a commitee member and point the problem out so we can try and do something about it if possilble.

The reason it was not taken to the committee at the time is this was the Final race of the day and it was too late to do much about it. Im not at the next meeting due to work commitments but I hope we can find a way of getting at least 4 adult marshals particularly for the Final :)

Hi All,
I know i wasnt at the last meeting but this was a problem last year aswell.
One suggestion worth thinking about is setting a minimum age for marshalling, anyone below that age has to provide an adult. This has worked well in other sports i have been involved with in the past.
Hope to see you all at the next meeting.
