Kyosho seem to have made a post on FB, at least i think it is, unless its a fan page, but i reckon we will see the Mid return at least, which is great news, never was a big fan, but, i could be converted!

No need to go that far off to find good sources. Just check out their own website ;)

Can you give a direct link to the Kyosho site where a re-re of the Mid is announced?
Hope they will make it fully belt drive, like the Lazer ZX-R, so the re-re will not suffer from the wearing out of the rear diff gear teeth and idler gear as the original Mid had. I think that is the Mid's weakest spot.
I have not seen any mention of a re-re Mid, although I'd like to.

Yeah, I misinterpreted the word "reckon" as being sure, but I understand it's still speculation and so far only the Scorpion is confirmed.

Gentlemen,
Kyosho will never re-release many vintage models due to the fact that many moulds are missing or heavily damaged  Hopefully they can recover some of them!! :bored:
And yes, this info is from an insider.....:p

So just spitballing, these moulds and tooling can be easily redone, never say never i say, just look at Yokomo, even Tamiya, seems many of there parts are retools, even in static models, if Kyosho want to, they will, all depends on there market needs!

Associated always said they wouldn't re-re the RC10 because several key molds no longer existed, but not only did they do that, but then promptly re-re'd the worlds version with a load of different plastic parts.
Another way to look at this is that there are companies out in China that take a car and produce a complete knock-off. If its a viable concept for them to duplicate parts it should be easy enough for the original manufacturer to do the same.

I thought Craig Drescher said the only missing mould was the chassis? No?

Correct- Cliff Lett said the same to me at RCX, had a good long chat with him, great guy

I think that no one inside Kyosho is going to confirm rumors and just deny everything until an official statement has been made, as this is standard policy with many companies.
The molds gone missing/damaged is hardly a reason, as mentioned by others, replicating parts has never been as easy as today. If the molds are CNC, it's an option the CAD files are still there, these don't get eaten by age. Plus other companies that mentioned having the same issues about the molds when asked if they would ever do a re-re of their classic cars, suddenly were able to do even more than one re-re.

It also only takes minutes for some skilled in CAD to recreate a part/s if they have one in front of them. Heck, they could even just do a 3D scan of the part!

I imagine just like the other models the moulds for the Scorpion were also lost so had to be recreated
If that is the case then I think its a safe assumption that if they can recreate them for the Scorpion they can and will do it for other models too

Doesn't matter if they have the old moulds or not, they wouldn't fit in the Thunder Tiger moulding machines anyway. They have all been remade, as shown by the changes in most of the parts so it should be easy to spot original and rerelease parts. The moulds had been updated over the years so they had to be remade to go back to the original design of the parts.
The designers even had to borrow an original car to ensure the new parts will fit on the old chassis.

Nice touch to make it compatible with current parts, like they did with the RB6 diff.

would be nice if they also made a modification to stop the front suspension bar from rolling up on the first nose-dive ;)
Seeing this has made me sort my own creation back to working order.
Using the scorpion suspension mated with a sprinter style rc10 carbon chassis and trackmaster ultima drivetrain... looking forward to put it out against the re-re :p

You can have a look here:

That's how it had been sitting since 2008.
New are a descent wing stay and wing, shorty lipo and savox low profile servo in front of the shorty pack, receiver moved in front of the servo and ESC centered in front of the bulhead over the pack. But I haven't made pics of those new modifications yet.

I finished mine last night. The build quality is great, very impressive. One thing to note is that some including myself have found the dogbones to bind badly with the swing of the arm. All I did was loosen and retighten the trans (centering it) and I also did the same to the arm mounts. No binding whatsoever now. The trans is silky smooth, and the fitment is perfection.
Oh, and the tires still say Sand Super on the other side. I will be painting and turning mine around eventually!

You mean binding of the dogbone with the A-arm itself? Maybe a pic to clarify?
Looks nice, maybe a few green stripes on the wing as well?
gomachv
12-07-2014, 10:19 AM
The binding is when the dogbone is parallel to the ground. At full compression and full extension it is free. The arc that the arm takes makes it bind until you re torque everything. Once the trans is centered left to right the binding is gone.
In the original manual they show that the trans needs to sit centerline of the plate. Apparently this binding is not a new thing lol.

As much as I try to support UK sellers, when i can ship a single kit half way around the globe, pay UK taxes plus parcel force handling fees and still save over £20, there's something not right.

Hopefully the success of the Scorpion re-release will give Kyosho the confidence to do the Optima
I think the Ultima would be a given too as it won the Worlds in 87
Would be interesting to see if the did the Mid as well

The Mid would be great as re-re, if they keep things like the diff and rear tranny gears fully compatible, but more durable.

I decided to go a little more "Tomahawk" on mine. No permanent mods, bolts right up. I'll have to get a 'hawk body coming but for now the stock body fits great
I took a few liberties, the rch rear tower was melded with the stock 2014 for the third mounting hole and short shock positions. I don't expect to see the CB shocks rereleased, but just in case! Lol
I also ran the servo plate further forward to tie into the front skid plate which i copied in Kydex. The front bumper is a slightly modified copy off an Assault. I haven't had a chance to make the front towers and brace yet
