If you are interested in getting some good quality club carpet racing up and running in the North East (Tyne and Wear area), please come and support us at the following meeting.

Venue: Jarrow School sports hall, NE32 5PR

Date and Time: Sunday October 19th 11am-4pm

Classes: 1/10th touring (suggested 19T/10.5 and rubber tyres), 1/10th Mini, 1/12th circuit

Format: 3 rounds of qualifying, 3 leg finals.

Since this is the first time we will be rolling out the carpet, entry is FREE - repay us by helping to set up and put away! This is the biggest venue in regular use in the North East, surface will be Duo carpet (we will try and fit in 4x4m rolls, if not 3x4m rolls with a long straight) and markings are ropes.

The meeting is kindly supported by the NERCR club. If it is a success a winter series will follow!

Let me just add that this series has attracted some generous sponsorship so is officially known as...

Much-More UK North East On Carpet - Winter 08/09

Much-More UK have supplied some unique trophies for 1/2/3 in the touring class and there will also be a prize draw at the end for those that have entered. Next meeting is on 16th November.

The last two dates for the Winter series have been confirmed...

Looking to the future, I'm hoping to get dates confirmed for every fortnight, will post more confirmed dates for the Spring series closer to the time.

cool. u might see me soon, started 1/8 rally cross again but its not looking good for local track so was seeing what races most in north, buggys or touring cars

sosidge
12-12-2008, 09:32 PM
Depends which area of "the north" you live in. Around Tyne and Wear we probably have quite even numbers interested in electric buggies, touring and also 1/12ths, regular clubs catering for each class at the moment.

Extra date!

Some great news for racers worried about their thumbs getting rusty over Christmas!

We have managed to book an extra date for on-road racing in the Jarrow hall.

Sunday 4th January 2009

This will be a non-championship meeting - so a chance to test the new cars Santa brought you with no pressure to get a result. Remember that all on-road cars are welcome, it would me nice to see a few TT01's, Mini's or even pan cars racing (markings may be rope though).

Format the same as the MMUK NEOC championship rounds. Time as usual 12-4pm.

See you all in a couple of weeks!

Don't mind really. As long as it has a Tamiya-supplied silvercan and rubber tyres I'll be happy.

sounds good Dave :) i will be there,
is there any way of knowing who will be racing what, Booking in maybe?
I wouldn't mind running a 12th but would not be good if it was just me:o
Can run a tt01 if enough people turned up or fix the tourer:woot:

would the 12th run for 8 minutes

steve

sosidge

Unfortunately there is no way of knowing what people will be running apart from what they post on forums, word of mouth, and what they have in their bag when they turn up!

Online booking is not something we have running at the moment.

12th will run 8 minutes if there is enough time to fit in the 3 qualifiers and 2 leg finals, if not, they will run for 5 like everyone else, assuming there are enough of them to justify a seperate heat. Judging by recent attendances, one heat at 8 minutes should not be a problem, two might be possible, three is not.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Anything rubber.

I have been using Much-More Sweep 28s and 32s. Others have used Tamiya Type A's, CS22's, even old HPI 15-40.

Try your local and if not there are lots of mail order shops that will have tyres in stock. If you are going to buy some tyres for Jarrow I would suggest the Sweep 32 premount (SWP-32C) as this *might* be our control tyre in the future.

Well, I run the TOP - but there is a new one due in the new year so it would be worth waiting for that in my opinion.

If you are looking for a good all-round car, Tamiya TA05 is the one that seems to suit most drivers and most grip levels. Good value too and the R version has all the hop-ups in the box.

Yes, I used to race a TA05R, won a few meetings at Nissan with it, sold it to Mel who still runs it at Jarrow when he comes. In fact when Jarrow was on the slippy floor Mel beat me with it! Good car.

I think it is an IFS-R that they sell now, might be even better!

Hi Richie

Just a thought, I think that if you get a TA-05 you will have to run it in modified class as I believe the main class is for TT-01s only with silver can motors, Tamiya speedos etc (& minis if theres not enough for a separate heat). Not wanting to put you off buying a new car, but might be best to check with Jason , Jane or Gary first so you dont get something you dont want.

Nice to see so many people today (racing and just watching), hope you enjoyed yourselves, just to remind you that the next meeting is Sunday 18th January, round four of the Much-More UK North East on Carpet championship.

sosidge
22-01-2009, 09:40 AM
The NERCR club AGM will be held at the Jarrow School Dining Hall before racing on Sunday 1st February 2009. Doors open 10am with meeting to start at 10.30am promptly.

Everyone with an interest in TC racing (and in NERCR itself) in the North East is invited to attend. The NERCR constitution states that non-members may speak, but may not vote on any proposals, however opinions from the floor will be seriously considered.

Why is this important?

Basically - without NERCR, there would be no North East on Carpet series. We need people to attend and show a willingness to get involved with NERCR club responsibilities for 2009 otherwise there will be no racing.

More dates

Subject to the outcome of the AGM, we also have another series of 5 dates confirmed for the Spring.

15th February 09
8th March 09
22nd March 09
5th April 09
19th April 09

I hope there will be a good turnout at the AGM and at the race meeting to follow - it is the last one in the Winter series, the championship is still to be decided and as an added bonus there is a prize draw too!

Thanks,

Dave

Please turn up early - 12 noon would be good at the latest - to ensure the organisers don't go home through lack of numbers.

And, the final round will be a week later - 3rd May - with raffles and prizes and fun and games - don't miss it.
