that looks good, would be interesting to see what it turns out like though! maybe you could put the 4cells across the back and then a further two next to the motor rather than next to the slipper assembly???
He only runs 5 cells Matt! ;)

Looks interesting i think one of atomic carbon's first prototype s2's used the rear end of a bj4we but had a xxxcr front end instead correct me if i'm wrong:confused:, will be good to see how it turns out with a b4 fornt end and howwell it handles on different types of track grip and stylewise,

looks like a good idea though :). Good Luck!

GT2 front end is a direct bolt on to flat CF and accepts all the B4 front end parts, drop me a email if you need one Thomas.
I found with the motor location you are using you get a lot of torque steer, and you must use the B44 slipper, as the BJ4WE works like a switch and you will got loads of wheel spin.
The best option i found was to spin the motor / housing around 180 deg, then turn the rear gearbox upside down, this got rid of the torque steer, and gave even better weight distribution.

you got PM Mr J :D:D:D
Thomas P
29-10-2008, 03:38 PM
damn..my CF wont be enough for a chassi...wit wont be more width then the motormount, maybe some more..not sure to fit in some cells on the opposite side...
Maybe this one will be Version 1, ordering some more CF, and then do a Version 2 :)

29-10-2008, 08:33 PM
looks great, personally think it would be better with 3 cells on the non-motor side and 2 on motor side for good weight balance and a little more power, i don't think 4 cell would be very good, like you have in one of your earlier pics
Thomas P

Mike i think you are right about that. i hadnt any time yesterday to finish the 5th and final slot :( it will come, app like the S4..so stay tune :):)

i want one:drool:
One thing i would suggest for this would be to try and mount the motor across the car, its not simple but is possible, this can aid with traction and will help the car be more responsive in the air.
Looks good though.

In that photo of the car mid jump, what won the car or the Ikea chair?
Honestly though, I think that the car looks great. Good work lad.
If I had a spare BJ4 lying around doing nothing I wouldnt hesitate in cutting it to bits and turning it into a mad ride like yours.
Maximum respect.

hey just wondering what its handling tendancies are like? imve made a mid motor 2wd based on a cat 3k and fount that the weight shift is minimal under acceleration and braking and when theres the slightest bit of grip its a demon! only thing is when theres a loss of traction the back end becomes very loose. have you also found this and if so you found anythin to sort it? can pm me if you wanna keep trade secrets among us designers lol

Hi Thomas,
Finally got mine done and will post some picks this week.
Run it at a club meeting on the 4th Jan on tarmac and was very impressed.
Many people at the club had a good look over it and i now want to see how it goes on grass ( so just need some good weather).
I could not get on with 2wd before but quite liked my outing with the BJ2 (wiggles)SE.
I also did the B44 slipper mod and run it with trakpower lipo's.
Version two now planned taking JC comments on board and turning the motor around.
Also Lars Jonsson's body shells are very tidy and nicely priced too.:woot:
Would rec this project to anyone with the parts just sitting around..
Regards, Paul.:):)

if you're running lipo can't you just add lead where it's needed?
If I remember rightly the only reason for moving the motor was to correct left to right weight distribution. - Not sure if theirs any advantage with lipo when you have to add loads of weight anyway.
paul01ews
06-01-2009, 08:41 PM
Hi, used lead for the weight situation, but when the powers on the rear end just spins out.
If i'm right JC was saying turn the motor around 180 and the rear gearbox upside down to calm this down?

Thomas - I see that you started with the BJ4WE 3-3 saddle pack configuration but quickly changed to the ACS4 4-2 set-up.
Is it because you run 5-cell only?
Just wanting to understand if you found any difference in moving from 3-3 to 4-2.
It's fantastic what you've done. Takes the hobby to a different level. have also seen the amazing stuff you did with your 1/18 :D

1) wouldn't a b44 body fit? your body looks good though...
2) lipo saddle with no chassis cutouts
3) by far the nicest do it yourself car i have ever seen. very nice job, i'm not knocking it at all. It is sweeet!!

Hi , Yeh version two on the way with a custom chassis as i broke the one in the pics due to not putting the packers back under the top deck , so had sloppy steering and then the wall at the end of the stright.
The chassis is a BJ4WE cut about to suit (did not want to waste loads of time on something that did not work)
Shame as the car works well and only broke due to running 2 & 4 wheel drive on the same day with no time for tinkering or fixing properly.
Will update in a few weeks on the newer versions.
The shell by the way looks so much better than a B44 as it's lower and makes the whole car look flatter.
Paul.
