Hi all,
I have an old novak gtb esc and it is missing the power cap, can anyone tell me if it is ok to run without the capacitor or tell me of an alternative capacitor as it seems almost impossible to get the origanal part in the UK from the part number?

I was always told not to run without, if you can find the spec try Maplin or farnel etc and make your own

Surely there is an affordable and available alternative that I could solder on?

The Hobby King ones are for use with receivers only, they won't work with an ESC.
This is one occasion where you need the original to avoid damage to your ESC. There isn't a cheap alternative as the Novak original came with additional circuitry to suit that ESC. This is the one you need:

Either get it direct from Novak, or contact CML Distribution who are the Novak UK agents. You could also PM Keith Robertson (KRob on here) who works there and ask him for advice. Take it form someone who has tried this on other ESCs and had to send each one for repair - use the original capacitor. Pay less and pay twice! HTH :)
