View Full Version : Waterproofing your tc's
Never done this before guys so would be after a few tricks/tips if anybody has any they would be willing to share?.
I've seen a few guys who run a DIY inner shell on their chassis, but I'm not sure where to start, anybody with some pics of theirs would be helpful.
Really enjoy running the buggy in the wet as it adds another element to it, and now want to have a dabble with a tc in the wet!
My first bit of advice would be do it weeks before you plan to use it!that way it's got lots of time to totally go off 100%,
Second bit would be to get a box to put it all in,much easyer to seal the wires than the speedo and all the wires,I used bath sealant then just put some plasti dip on the motor tabs and sensor plug and around the servo wire coming out the servo,I also put the rubber o ring around the servo stem before I put the horn on,and also on the battery plugs

This is the stuff you want...

There are lots of videos online on how to do it if you need help.
Iv got that on my dry car,
It's very messy and tbh I don't like the thought of all the water still getting inside the speedo!

Plasdip or liquid masking tape is the thing to use.
We use it in Finland on snowmobiles and tractors
Thanks for all the replies guys, not so keen on taking my electrics apart to coat them, with the warranty issue and the fact you have to reapply 8-12 weeks. I was looking for a "do it once- for good" solution. Any chance you could post a pic of your wet cad reg?, what container have you used?
I'm on my silly iPhone for a bit so once I get on the pad I'll post you some

+1 for Plasdip - its used loads for RC crawlers.
Just dip, or brush it on, let it dry and the thing is coated in a wonderful rubbery waterproof coating.
And best thing is you can cut it off your speedo, servo, etc if you want to later.
Good stuff :)
Hi,
It would seem just as hard on the pad to post a pic,
It might take some time :(
