What would be the best tyres to get with sort of semi-traction for grass?
e.g. allow me to get the power down on grass but be able to do power slides, etc. At the same time I'd like be able to get reasonable power down in a straight line rather than sitting on the spot wheels spinning.
I currently have pin type tyres all round and they just grip too well. They'd be ideal for racing as it really does grip, but stops me having as much fun on grass/ they dig in and sometimes flip the car If I'm over exuberant where I'd like to be able to break traction and have some fun when "playing".
It's rear motored 2wd with a 9.5T motor and 25/80 gearing.

On my sons Jekyll, I use the ready mounted FTX wheel / tyre sets from Modelsport. These cost approx 5-6£, are not too grippy and are great on grass. It also means it isn't expensive if they get worn down.
I know your question was more about performance rather than price, but these seem great on both fronts.
As always, Schuey yellow minispikes tend to be my preferred choice, with blue giving slightly better wear rates

Do they allow for sliding or do they grip in more?
At the moment I get tonnes of grip and darty, grippy, handling.
They look similar to these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/11404-11405-1-10-Scale-Off-Road-Buggy-Rubber-Studded-Tyres-Set-82mm-Front-Rear-/360838610062?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item5403a83c8e
I'm hoping to have something with less grip so I can powerslide/drift the car on the green stuff.

To be honest, I think you will struggle to power slide on grass, the surface naturally generates traction. Only some on-road threaded tyres might work, maybe SC10 kit tyres if you can get them to fit.

Drop your gearing.
Go down to a 20/21/22 tooth pinion and some part worn tyres(Schuey pins?).
Lowering the gearing will let the motor light up the rears on hard power.
My Mardave Cobra(well modded and has a Mad Rat'box in it)will go sideways
in a straight line if you want it too on a 19/81 set up with a brushed 19t Komodo Dragon in.
