Hi,
Im a new lipo user and have been trying to google around for some answers but it seem that peoples opinions tend to vary. I understand that lipos should generally never be stored fully charged, but what if this is only short term?
For convenience I'd like to be able to charge my lipos the day before racing (i.e. up to 24 hours before). Am i likely to shorten the life span/performance of the cells if I do this on a weekly basis?
Would appreciate some help!

If you want ease do it, if you want Max life from them don't, personally I don't as they can swell

I always charge mine a day before. I try to do it as late as possible in the evening, but have had to charge them earlier before. Never had any problems with swelling & still get two whole runs from a pack easily.

I always charge one set the night before so i have something straight away and then put any other sets on charge as soon as i get to the club.

Thanks for the info already! To add I'm not massively concerned about trying to make the cells last forever but I am concerned about safety - the possibility of swelling is bothering, but it seems there are no real statistics about if or when this will actually occur

I run one set up to about 8v the night before, then make sure first job is to get the charger plugged in.
By the time I've got the car, radio, tyres, shell, tools sorted out, it's fully charged.

Its not ideal, you wont get the performance from them and as mark says they can swell if left fully charged. Especially if you leave in your car or somewhere with Heat Extremes.
Also from a saftey aspect its better to have as little energy stored as possible in case something happened to them.

You shouldn't leave them totally discharged either....hope that doesn't confuse you even more!!

I charge the night before as part of my routine - no time to charge for the first race otherwise.
No problems with swelling, I've had two packs swell over the years, both after about three seasons of use, I don't class that as unusual or risky.
