I wonder what the rules are, or whether a JConcepts converted T4 would be allowed, since it's an 8th scale electric buggy (2wd)

Loose is not fast with only three wheels on your wagon!
How many times did that happen last Sunday??:p
He still beat me in the final though.
My poor Losi 8 has only just recovered from its Cockerill Neo 08 run.
I am obviuosly a more considerate driver........
although the Tamiya did thermal at the end of the A final on Sunday, not cause I was ragging the arse off it obviously!!

about 10-15 Norwegians are trying to attend aswell, what is the nearest airport if we go?
is it possible to camp on site?
showtime
06-11-2008, 07:45 AM
Hei Tom
camping is allowed on site but you'd probably be better using the onsite accomodation, rooms were about £22 a night last time & are only about 150m from the track & pitting hall! they are single rooms with their own toilet & shower ;)
Ronnys been over 4 times & he takes a cheap flight from Torp to Stanstead then drives up in a hire car. if there are a few of you coming over car sharing would make this quite a bit cheaper ;)
unfortunately its about 160 miles & 3 hours drive!
but with a few of you everyone enjoys a road trip lol
Ronny should be able to help you with some questions but anything else just ask mate :)

it shouldn't be as cold as this year
this year was a very early Easter plus it was unseasonally cold as well which gave the meeting a very arctic feel!
pretty sure the Norwegian dudes are better at coping with cold than we are, they get much more practice ;)

and almost twice the price of last year chris..
still be good tho
showtime
15-01-2009, 06:13 PM
i've been on the phone with Phil today & he went some way into explaining the high(ish) entry fee
this is a very expensive meeting to hold & even at the raised entry fee there is still a large amount that needs to be found from sponsorship etc!
due to the troubled economic climate sponsorship for this event has been hard to come by & thin on the ground. you only have to look at the lack of sponsorship logo's on the event homepage compared to last year to see that! so the unfortunate raise in entrys was unavoidable.
on the plus side if you do get in you'll be racing on the best track in the UK against a very strong International field
i'm not sure on exact prices of onsite accomodation yet but the rooms are usually a lot cheaper than a hotel so the cost does even up a bit plus you also get cheap beer in the student union bar ;) so if you were really keen you could try and recoup your money like that :woot:
you also get the DXR guarantee that rain cannot & will not stop play!
you don't get that at any other dirt track in the UK
footey
15-01-2009, 06:14 PM
when can people put there name down to try and gety a entry
glypo
15-01-2009, 06:25 PM
Cool the website is live :)
Phil must have worked hard on the content, I only finished coding it last night!
And as Showtime said, economy has gone mad causing little sponsorship. Putting on this race costs serious money, I won't say the budget but just says it's in tens of thousands.
Also, due to weak pound against Euro it is only a small price increase for the Europeans too over last year. This should help make it even more international. So really you are getting a bargain anyway, Neo is the nuts and there are some AWESOME new plans which I will keep secret for now. For £25/day it's not much more than a club race in price, but it's soooooo much better :)
showtime
15-01-2009, 06:26 PM
entrys go live midday tomorrow ;)

I thought I'd seen a link in this tread to a video from the track - with some über spectacular jumps! But I just can't find it again... was it removed???
Link please!?
this is one of ours http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rlg3751lQhc
Thx! I must be confusing...
I saw a video, probably from somewhere else then, with an insanely high jump. Plus some white "walls" the cars "climbed over"... Anyone?

FIGHT
There has been some sort of heated altercation between Lee Martin and one a the Spanish dudes, Borja Hernadez we believe.
A racing incident seems to have escalated into a fisty-cuff type fight.
It was very exciting when it all kicked off.
Lee is still alive for now as Wraggy is keeping an eye on things.
Belsten
10-04-2009, 06:28 PM

This appears to be turning into an international diplomatic incident.
Several drivers who were present on the rostrum at the time are being called to give evidence.
Damo was an eye witness, saying 'he was like a raging Spanish bull'.
This is ace.

From Phil on NEO 09 Blog
there was an incident between borja hernandez and lee matin, allegedly lee martin and borja strongly disagreed up on the drivers stand, when the pair came down, one of borja's mechanics held lee by the throat, after reviewing the siutation, and speaking to witnesses and both drivers, the decision has been made to exclude Borja's mechanic from the event.
And the scuffle involved a transmitter landing on the straight, which forced the heat's warm down to be cut short.
