What is everybodies opinion of these?
I've seen one advertised in the for sale section.
I'm not interested in racing i just want to have indoor and outdoor fun!!:woot:

Fun they certainly are - especially when there are a few of them in the same race.

I had the original back in the day.... The suspension is simple, as is the drive train. Makes for a good low maintainence buggy. Performance is ok but is no race winner. Tho i did race mine in the early 80s at club level and did ok. Moved on to a super champ
I keep looking at one for nostalgic reasons as it was my first proper rc car.

probably not the best thing for a first rc car if its an original one as you cant get parts and the front of the chassis breaks easily, if its the re release then you'd be ok. lots of more modern cars kicking around at good prices, a lot quicker, better handling and more fun! still have my old holiday buggy from the early eighties, somewhat trashed, but it was my first non homemade rc car

Thanks for your advice but I'm not buying a holiday buggy now, as I've bought a Tamiya grasshopper of ebay for £72.:D
Are they any good for my first car?

Really good for bashing and certainly Iconic. Bit bouncy for racing though and that solid rear axle!
If you like your Tamiyas probably the best-value starter buggy is the Neo-Fighter

Is there a sertain type of battery I have to get for my Tamiya grasshopper or will it take any battery.
picked up my re-release holiday buggy yesterday.car was built, painted and set up by Peter Moss at Proracing in Yorkshire.specified as a 540 sealed can racer it will be competing at yorcc on Saturday evenings.as with my other 540 cars its running m-tronics speedo, savox low profile servo and sanwa radio.electrics install is super neat and the attention to detail on driver, jerry cans and spot lights has to be seen to be believed.can't wait to thrash it around track.car will be at yorcc tonight for anyone to check out the amazing work done on it.thanks Peter.

Chassis on the re-re is different to the original. body is the same. I'm sure the original was trailing arm design.
Looks good Jez, look forward passing it ;-)

I must say Peter the car looked fantastic inside and out. You are in a class of your own!

Yes Jez I was marshalling that heat and was very surprised and impressed with the way you got it round. Especially over the bumps and jumps.
Glad you didn't run the Pro painted shell. It's too nice.

Cool car, are the front shocks meant to be mounted 'upside down'?
