Hi all,
I'm short of space in a car I'm building but wondered if any of you had knowledge as to what the smallest might be? Or are they all pretty similar?

Hard-cased lipos are all pretty much standard sized (stick, shorty or saddle sized that is). 'Soft packs' do not have the case to protect them, so you need to make sure that they are not in any danger of being damaged whilst in your chassis for racing, but they come in a massive range of shapes and sizes, with varying capacities....
Best thing to do is tell us what chassis you are using, and what sort of racing you plan to do.
Some championships or clubs insist on hardcased only, wheras the micro sections' nationals allow soft packs, but you are required to ensure that they are protected and fully secured inside the chassis.

I'm pretty sure there's a low profile 2s shorty on the brca list, it has the same foot print as other shorty's tho, can't remember who makes it tho
Search the brca website for the homologation list

Nope,
Each half of the saddle is 3.7 volts.

is it the overall dimensions of the pack or the shape thats the problem, does it need to be a pack shaped like a nimh stick?? there are packs around that have the same dimensions as a stick, not sure what they are, just know some club members are using them. should find out really as need a stick for my maxima!

There are some real small 2s hardcase lipo's intended for 1/18 scale cars. The capacity however is also pretty small, range 1800mAH.
LRP, CS Vampire IP are a few manufacturers that spring to mind.
Size is around 88 x 32 x 19mm (got 2 cs ones myself)
Don't think they'll be brca legal though and they will not be resilliant to a lot of amp draw!
On the bay you can still find some:

You can get rounded stick packs that resemble the size and shape of old school nimh packs.

SMC, Trinity, Intellect and Trakpower all sell 2S lipo's in a 1S sized case now, ranging from 3000-3500mah. That's about as small as you can get and still be usable, the 1800mah 1/18th sized packs could run a race but you would probably low voltage them doing so.
