I only have cad drawings of the layshaft i designed for the optima mid and lazer. Other parts like gears and arms i let the supplier do it. Ryo from optimahouse made some beautiful not to scale 3d renders of the optima mid.

i have seen the 3D renders and they look great.. i was wanting to make things like arms and towers out of various materials and colours.. would rather break copies driving them rather than expensive originals

Perhaps you mean these renderings?

That's them Joel - amazing work - I'd love to have the original files and complete the car. Wheels/tyres, body and wing :)

James, Joel didn't do these, they were done by Ryo on OptimaHouse but he hasn't updated his blog in a while.

Those are sketch up renders. Not real 3d models per se hence they are not to scale. I have already ask him that question 3 years ago on his blog.

sorry guys, I didn't update my blog recently because I was more busy on Mini-Z (www.autoscalestudio.com). Anyway, I'm astonished by the high level of the talking here on the Oople forums (well, I can understand that because basically everybody here has a foot on the track instead of guys like me who doesn't race anymore :D).

My daily job is archviz so I'm used to model eveything. The Javelin I made was loosely based on pictures and scans of the manual found on the web because I didn't have any complete Javelin (it was just the ignition of the fire that still consumes me today), but the Mid was modeled to scale, because at the time I was already deep in my optimaniac fever (really a disease) and now I'm still stuck with the LeMans motors (actually I stopped the modelling several years ago when I was struggling about how to model and texture the motor can :p).

But I made some realistic renders as well:
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-H2RYKHJJBpc/R3tZEvaq2YI/AAAAAAAADqQ/9oKduqY8XUs/s1024/optima%2520mid%2520studio%252006B.jpg

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Jv5qINTwQiU/R4ESSfaq2ZI/AAAAAAAADqc/gsENCR_73Zw/s1024/Optima%2520Mid%2520Frontal.jpg

So I must find time to model the OT-66, OT-67 and the LeMans motors.
And after that, the body... and a long wheel base one... :D Holy god

Amazing renders! About spot on,though the springs on the front look a bit thin or the shock bodies need to be slightly larger in diameter, as it seems there is a little too much space between the springs insides and shock bodies.

eheh Well spotted!
I didn't have a caliper when I modeled this but now I have so I'll remodel it again. :D

Thanks for your kind words.

Looking forward to an even nicer version. And if we are fine tuning anyway, on the first pic, the front car, the shiny bottom plate top face has a spotty color near the belt cover. Maybe a lighting thing, or is it compression artifact from scaling down the picture?
