Any set up tips for high grip astro on a v4 please.car is very unpredictable when the grip comes up.
in lower grip conditions its a joy to drive with the set up from the instructions. Any help would be appreciated for high grip.anyone used ballistic whites all round?my set up is 3rd quote down.

What track is it? What tyres are you using? I

tend to use schui mini spikes all round 2wd stretched on 4wd front with the side walls glued. To me this made it a lot easier to drive at places like robin hood astro track

Maybe post your setup and we can try point you in the right direction

Hi,

On high grip astro on my DEX410v4 i would generally run on the front a 4wd yellow spike tyre and i would remove the outer 2 rows of spikes and also 1 inner row.

If it was still a bit edgy i would also wipe super glue on the outer side wall tyre.

I have tried running narrow tyres on the front of my 4wd but i prefer the full width front 4wd tyre.

depending on the type of astro BB whites can be good; I find they have less side bite so not quite as hairy in the corners!

upping the diff oil can sometimes help too (you don't say what you are running).

in very high grip, stiffening the car can actually make grip roll worse as the suspension doesn't roll and absorb some of the lateral movement when you are cornering.

what ride height are you running; the 410 can be run quite low in most conditions and this could also help.

Yellow cut staggers on the front, problem solved!

Your springs are crazy hard, i would go back to kit springs, dark blue front light blue rear, you could try 1.7x2 rear pistons.

i normally run 1.7x2 front 45-50wt, dark blue, 1.6x3 30-32.5wt light blue rear.
10k diffs
long wheelbase
front shocks out on the arms
rear shocks either middle or out on the arms
shocks 3rd hole out on the tower front and rear
i have been running the slim front tyres as well, but yellow mini spikes, but i usually run indoors.

i have tried 1.6x2 front and 1.7x2 rear but usually go back to the above.

Heavy anti roll bars will take the grip away but can also make the car "pointy" maybe a 1.3 front bar to let the suspension work more could help, it will give you more grip but feel easier to drive.

Have you run the slim tyres back to back with the standard fatter ones on high grip? What do you find?

Also does gluing the sidewall make the car easier to drive? I thought it would have make it all stiffer and more "pointy" but i have never tried it!

Ive only used the schmacher slim yellow and green mini spikes . I'll try the 4wd yellows with a row or two cut off .I'll thicken the diff oil especially in the front.
go lighter on my springs as ive been advised with different piston and oils
Many thanks for all your tips and help.

Going to the 21 degree front blocks in high grip this helps over the v4 19 or the lower versions normal blocks which you only use when there is lower grip.
