Help with my trakpower lipos

Anyone any advice, i stupidly forgot to disconnect the battery fom the speedo -just turned it off. And now my one use only saddle 3200's are not charging, the voltage has dropped too low i think.

Is there anything that can be done? Or was this an expensive 1st meeting with the lipo's.

Any advice i would be very grateful

Basically you're not in a good situation and to be completely safe you should bin them and start again. Get a voltage reading to make sure the voltage is too low.

There may be away to rescue them but I wouldn't advise it.

Contact Trakpower direct and take their advice, hear say would not be good advice to follow!

Yeah i have sent them an e-mail already, just wanted to see if anyone on here had had any experiences with doin the same.

Sorry to hijack this thread. But as a matter of interest, if you do have a knackered Lipo, what are you suppsoed to do with it? I mean it's potentially unstable right? And surely putting it into the bin is not a good idea due to the nasty stuff that is inside. Plus I suppose the waste refuse operative (or whatever bin men are called these days) could get a nasty shock when the van crushes it.

you take it to your local council refuse site, where they will have a battery recycling system, you put it in there.

** DISPOSAL OF LIPO BATTERIES **
Unlike NiCd batteries, lithium-polymer batteries are environmentally friendly.
For safety reasons, it’s best that LiPo cells be fully discharged before disposal (however,
if physically damaged it is NOT recommended to discharge LiPo cells before disposal -
see below for details). The batteries must also be cool before proceeding with disposal
instructions. To dispose of LiPo cells and packs:
1. If any LiPo cell in the pack has been physically damaged, resulting
in a swollen cell or a split or tear in a cell’s foil covering, do NOT discharge the battery.
Jump to step 5.
2. Place the LiPo battery in a fireproof container or bucket of sand.
3. Connect the battery to a LiPo discharger. Set the discharge cutoff
voltage to the
lowest possible value. Set the discharge current to a C/10 value, with “C” being the
capacity rating of the pack. For example, the “1C” rating for a 1200mAh battery is 1.2A,
and that battery’s C/10 current value is (1.2A / 10) can be used,
such as a power resistor or set of light bulbs as long as the discharge current doesn’t
exceed the C/10 value and cause an overheating condition.
For LiPo packs rated at 7.4V and 11.1V , connect a 150 ohm resistor with a power rating
of 2 watts (commonly found at Radio Shack)to the pack’s positive and negative terminals
to safely discharge connecting it to an ESC/ motor system and allowing the motor to run
indefinitely until no power remains to further cause the system to function.
4. Discharge the battery until its voltage reaches 1.0V per cell or
lower. For resistive load type discharges, discharge the battery for up to 24 hours.
5. Submerse the battery into bucket or tub of salt water. This container should have a lid,
but it should not need to be air-tight. Prepare a plastic container (do not use metal) of cold
water. And mix in 1/2 cup of salt per gallon of water. Drop the battery into the salt water.
Allow the battery to remain in the tub of salt water for at least 2 weeks.
6. Remove the LiPo battery from the salt water, wrap it in newspaper or paper towels and

place it in the normal trash. They are landfill safe.

No pack is completely fine, i have only used it the once but forgot to disconnect it. On my advantage charger it tries to charge it and at about 0.1a and the voltage is starting to rise but gets to about 3v then stops and says check cell on the display.

check your pm do that and you will be fine.

They can be safley recovered.

just had e-mail from trakpower, they have told me to send them back as they have equipment that may bing them back to life. Fingers crossed.

best option is allways trakpower as there customer service is spot on, not many companies help the end user when they have admitted fault

Hope so, i'm first to admit fault, never done it before with my maxamps always disconnected them, but this is longest i had left my car untouched - sods law. Lesson learned. Nice one p'm ing me the advice instead!
