Never heard of a mid4 made by either brands (or any others by the way)

Hirobo Alien mid4 is the closest I can imagine but not sure if you're post isn't playing tricks with my brain now ;)

Alien mid 4 by hirobo is what you are describing.

It's a nice 4wd off road. One that I'm very fond of!

You can by repro shell and declaw on ebay.

Also, rc broc auto on ebay has parts, but only a limited selection.

Depends on how much work needs to be done. Wheel fitment is quite specific making rims difficult to find or even seek alternatives. You can try wheels from its predecessor (Zerda) as they could be a little easier to find.

The belts are a finer pitch than a modern car, and would be real hard to find. I played around with parts and different arms and driveaxles etc, but ended up giving up before it came to a working concept. I just didn't believe it was going to capable to handle the power that some of my other vintage cars will. I've since sold all the parts.
The part a bout the belt running through its own enclosed area was what tattracted me in the first place, but maybe I'd better have sought for a PB Maxima instead ;)

Thanks for comments.
For £20 its worth a shot and apart from a 540 motor (i have) looks complete.
Just sounds like wheels will be tricky.

The review of the Hirobo Alien is too large to go here But if you check out FB (IconicRC) it will be there.

I always thought back then that the Alien Mid4 was a copy of the optima mid, at least name wise. However, I read RC Car Action recently and saw that Hirobo's was released in mid 87.(pun intended)
So kyosho wasn't the first to use the MID name.

None as far as I'm aware.

This may give you an idea of what you could do.
