Hi guys, I'm currently running a spectrum dx2e radio and am finding that the receiver is a bit on the big side to fit into my 22-4, I know back in the days of 27mhz radios you could just get a smaller receiver from a different brand and it would work perfectly (still got a novak xxl that I used to run with ko radio) can you do the same with 2.4ghz radios and if so does anyone have any recommendations?
Currently the only place it will fit is on top of the transmission rather than beside the servo and then only just clears the shell.

Get an SR3500 micro receiver it's spektrum so it will bind with your handset, you can get Orange RX from hobby king cheaper but never used them, back in the day I used to remove the circuit board from the receiver case and shrink wrap it which makes it way smaller

Thanks, will look into that, also had to shrink wrap a receiver just to get it in my predator, there was no room in that chassis, the tourer was even worse!

The Orange GR300 are ideal, very small, Spektrum compatible, and very cheap.
EBay or Hobbyking..

Beware with the orange gr300 recievers they are great but you need to check the standard your transmitter use's
The Orange recievers use dsm2, some of the spectrum trannies use DSM and wont work with the orange recievers
I use orange recievers with my DXR4S tranny and find them great as well as cheap as chips.
HTH,
Shiny.
BTW they are norm cheaper from hobbyking than ebay just make sure they are in uk warehouse.

Thanks, this is what I wasnt too sure on, whether they used different signal processing systems or not. It was so much easier when all you had to do was have matching xtals!

Just had a quick look on spektrums web site it says the dx2e is backwards compatable with dsm2.
But i read somewhere that the dx4s which i have once it has had a firmware update no longer binds to the orange recievers which is why i havent done mine. The question is yours being a later handset will it or wont it bind?
As i should imagine spektrum want you to buy there recievers at £35 a pop as apossed to orange at £8 a pop.
Do you know anyone that runs one you could try binding your handset to, to try if not it might be worth the £8 to try, if no joy then ebay to get your money back.
