Do you think it could be a good tuning option?
I sought in my old CAT2000 spare parts a it seems some TDS parts could take place onto CAT SX with minor mods ;)

myself n my dad haave suggested this to the big man(phil) wen we first got our cat at the euros he said he would look into this matter  on our previous ride we found it extremly useful. but running the car with a diff and removing the pin on the layshaft makes it fell very similar just with out the adjustment

I think it would be a cool idea - which is why i too asked for it to be looked at as an option. Hopefully at some point something will happen.
Personally i'm not so bothered about the TDS slipper (for the rear on cat 2000) but the ABS on the front would be very useful IMHO.

Oh yes Matt, I write TDS but I was thinking about ABS: the tuning center oneway on the front ;)
Tomorrow I will try to mod some parts :D

Please post photos when it is ready.. adjustable one-way could be nice..

Hi Ulrich.
Nice to see you are still interested in developments for the Schumacher car. Great pics of the scene in your country! It was good to see the photos of you and your wife and kids.
Regards
Charlie.

Oliv, Let me know how that goes - as i'd be very interested. I did look at the bits to work out if one could be fitted - as i had an old ABS unit laying around in an old box!!

Matt, here it is
It requires some hand made parts and some mods on the oneway pulley, nevertheless the ABS plate can be use without any mod and location of the pin in the shaft is perfect ;)

I like the look of this a lot! Excellent work!!!
Am I right in thinking, it'll only function with a diff in the front. The one way diff will roll forward and cancel the benefits of this TDS?
Which leads me to next idea, how about a friction assembly within the one way diff? There's a challenge, as im guessing there is not enough room.

Chris, Yes it's an adjustable centre one way unit. So you have a diff in the front, and can adjust how much "one way action" you get from the centre. Allows you to have it tight enough to be able to get on the breaks, while not completely locking the front end up while it corners.
Oliv, work looks great  well done with that. I had been trying to work out yesterday how you would sort a layshaft!!! now i see.

Absolutely right !

It was my first dream for the X-5: a tunable oneway :wub
And I think it could be possible to introduce friction material between outdrives and pulley. The main issue is having enough place to put a spring or belleville washers inside outdrives

PATENT IT :woot:
I can't, because it has been already released by Schumacher as option for CAT2000...

Batter than factory??? ;)
Does it work exactly like the xx4 clicker i.e. locked on acceleration but variable 'slip' on brakes?
Olivier are you coming to the Petit race?
MattW

Dan, it's much better than xx4 - as it is a proper one way bearing rather than ratchet like xx4 is, but yeah you have the idea.
Looks good Oliv - but then you knew that!:woot:
:o:o:o
We should clone Olivier so every brand could have one on its team... Oh wait, just give him every car available and he will make wonders
Olivier: Send a CV + details of some of your work to all the car manufacturers. You should be working full time with RC development!
Does it hurt to have such a big brain?
Now I want a CAT just because of you!:lol::lol:

Olivier are you coming to the Petit race?
Dan, I don't think so, 'cause due to my job I plan to move at the beginning of 2009 with my wife and children. There will be lot of things to manage else than RC stuff

Clone have been already done Raph... Did you see my young daughter? She like me but with long hair

Yeah Shy, what a great idea !!!

Beware of the CAT, it doesn't like cold countries, it will rather prefer to stay at home than run outdoor

Other than a lack of space, there's also the problem that you need exactly the same amount of friction for both sides. And weight. It'd be one heavy mofo of a diff.

Hi Bruno !!!
During my X-5 period, I was thinking about a thrust bearing in each oneway outdrive, plus some Belleville washers in one of the outdrive, and a long screw through all these parts. As for friction function, what about two thin PTFE washer between each outdrive an oneway body ?
This way we can expect to have same friction effect on left and right side
I agree the thickness of thrust bearing + Belleville washers + head screw could be enormous regarding the available space
