Hey Folks
I thought I would post an advert to any guys that live in Surrey area that are racing or interested in racing GT12 Superstox who may be up for starting a GT12 Superstox Car Club.

I used to race back in the mid nineties at SRCCC, buggies then, but now getting back into the sport I see there is very little in the way of car clubs in the Surrey area that accommodate the GT12 series. I will definitely be making WKRCC my local track but over 30 miles away and alternate Sundays.

If there is anyone else who would like to get something started, drop me a line here and maybe we can get the ball rolling with enough interest!!

Best Wishes
Stuart

Hi Stewart

There is a need for an indoor track in the Surrey area. I know you are interested in forming a 1/12 track but would you consider a 1/10 off road track?
There are no indoor clubs in the Surrey/Hampshire area. The nearest track to me is, Three Countries near to Milton Keynes which 90 miles away.

Let us know your thoughts......

Thanks

Hi Stuart
I'm on the same boat and have been looking for ages. Would definitely welcome a club on Surrey. I generally like 1/10 touring cars....but can be tempted to GT12

As you say all the indoor clubs are a little to far away (went down to Horsham last week and it's an hours drive)

Lets make this happen!!
Mike
P.S - I'm in Morden, SM4

Hey Guys...
Fantastic you have got in touch...
I would love to do this... I am in Cheam/Banstead and would consider deco starting up in the Surrey area...
I have just got a Micro 1/16th and goes like stink, also no clubs in the immediate area...
Could run these as well...

Thoughts chaps...

So that makes 3. Just need a few more. There has got to be more that this in the area.

Would be great to find a hall somewhere, even if it's just to pracrice in for a start.

Definitely Mike.
Years ago I used to belong to Surrey Radio Control Car Club that use to race at Moore Lane School in Chessington and then moved to Sandown Park race course. Raced 1:10th buggies.
That disbanded some years ago after they moved again to Tolworth where they have a fixed outdoor concrete TC track.

Mick Charles Models is a big shop with a big car section but they don't stock any of the GT12 kit, maybe worth posting an advert in there, aiming to start up a club??

What do you think Mike?

Maybe a Facebook page too to start the ball rolling?

Can definitely whip up a quick facebook page.....hopefully that'll garner some interest.

When are you next heading to WKRCC?

That would be a great start Mike
Get a Facebook page running, "Surrey Radio Control Car Club"?
See who we can round up and then take it from there. Had a look at some village halls etc and they are everywhere (obviously) and seem very easily accessible.
I'm not at WKRCC this weekend sadly, but will be the next meeting.
I also run at
Maritime
Bracknell
Horsham

If you do any of those, aim to do Horsham on the 19th. Get to run GT12 and my 1/16th buggy... Great bunch of lads there too.

Look forward to catching up.

Hi guys,

Could I make a suggestion? I run Surrey & Hants RCCC and it may cause confusion between the 2 (I also have a gt12 and would love for there to be another club around).

As you are starting up, could you add gt12 into the name? Otherwise it might be confusing for people searching for off road vs gt12?

(we should have had off road in our name to be fair when we started years ago)

What do you think?

Surrey GT12/Micro (SGTM) for short?

Thanks Stuart.

Also had a look for village halls, there are a few at some decent rates...for instance.
- Trinity Church Sutton Hall @ £24ph
- Lower Kingswood Village from £8ph.

(hallshire website)

Need to find somewhere accommodating though...might be a bit picky about marking the floors.

Actually went to Horsham last week...and going again tomorrow for a bit of TC action.
Do like the GT12....but until I can find a local place to drive it not worth getting one.

At least the TC I can run on outdoor tracks (Crystal Palace or Aldershot)

@Kelk , will definitely bear that in mind, any advice for starting up a club?

Hey Mike
Did you manage to speak with Kelk?

Nope, had a hectic weekend.
Was at Horsham on Friday...but didn't manage to race...in my haste to setup I sliced finger open with stanley knife.
Will be back there this Friday though. (was thinking Sidcup...but car should be setup for Horsham)

Sorry Kelk...couldn't really get GT in there...but if we manage to get this thing off the ground we can link to shrccc.co.uk for any queries about off-road.

Thanks Zoaman.

That's still even further than other clubs.(Horsham/Aldershot)

There seems to be a void a clubs in the inner part of Surrey (Chessignton/Epsom/Sutton area) which is pretty much the area we're focusing on (give or take)
