srx2 gearing

Hi all.I'm running a srx2 with a 6.5 x20 lrp motor and a tekin rs esc.at the moment I am running the kit spur with a 21 tooth pinion.even in this cool weather I managed the thermal my esc on the last lap of a run.can any one help with what gearing I should b running.

Hi Terry

You are undergear pal.
I run Orion electrics as you know, with a 6.5, standard spur, I am on a 24 on indoors short tracks and 26 on the bigger wide open tracks :)
You can thermal being under and over geared so bare that in mind

With that motor try and get close to 8.8 on the overall gearing, LRP motors do tend to need gearing a little lower than the orion motors.

The final drive ratio is 2.43 so i would start with 78/22 which is 8.62 but if you could go 76/21 that would be 8.799.

Get the thing wound up - get some speed - you've already done well with it!
I agree with Brain the LRP might be a pinion or even 2 behind the Orions but get at least a 23/24 on there and ENJOY - LOL
