Jimmy 'oOple' Storey - 1973-2015.

On behalf of myself, Jimmy's sister Catherine, and our close family and friends, thank you so much to everyone who has extended kind words of support over the past few days. The lovely messages and various tributes to Jimmy have been comforting during an extremely painful time.

We are in no doubt about what a positive difference Jimmy has made to a vast number of people, many of whom he may never have met.

On Friday June 12th we will hold a service of celebration for Jimmy in the least conventional way possible, for the boy who certainly didn't agree with conforming to the norm.

Anyone who would like to join us in paying respect to Jimmy, celebrating his contribution and achievements, and remembering him with love and humour, please meet at Huddersfield Crematorium at 2pm on Friday 12th June 2015, to be followed by snacks and raising a toast or two at Rastrick Cricket Club from 3:30pm.

Wearing black is not essential but please wear something orange, an oOple tshirt, or both :)

Jimmy leaves a huge void for us all, but his hard work and commitment to the hobby will live on for as long as we want racing to be fun.

I am saddened to hear of Jimmy's passing. My thoughts go out to you and your family during this time.

As an American R/C hobbyist, Jimmy's work gave me exposure to the R/C world in the U.K. His photography and race coverage were nothing short of impeccable, and set the true standard for how R/C events should be covered. His chassis reviews were equally great - wonderful pictures, thoughtful writing, honest reviews, the whole lot. Truly an immense talent who will be missed worldwide.

Like many here, I have never met Mr Jimmy Oople himself, but loved his website, and forum. Most of all I loved the report and history about Maritime - I am sure it is still somewhere on this website. I hope that the website continues and thrives as a legacy to Jimmy. May he rest in peace, and I hope that whatever sadness brought about his passing, I hope his family have the strength to cope.
