All of the previous braking issues have now been resolved, and i will gladly update any Losi speedo if i am at the track, just pop over and see me.

Hi, can you tell me what is involved in the update and can I do it myself? IE is it just a setting up issue?
Many Thanks Pete

I've not used one myself but quite a few people at my club run them and they all seem to be impressed with it.

There is a new version of the setup program, which isn't availble yet, and new firmware, which you can't install without the new setup program.
You can still adjust the speedo setting with the quick tune card though, with the new firmware.

Damo - used this for the first time at Bury indoor last Sunday, seemed to work well enough for me.

So will this new set up program be available to us mere mortals.

The only problem I and another at my club have had is that when you try to update the firmware the ESC stops working completely and has to be sent to Horizon. Is this a fix for this problem?

It is a complete new firmware program, so should solve all of the previous issues. The new program should be available by Febuary as they as still tweeking the setup program.

Ive not heard of this problem but you can connect it, go to the software program and commands, then reset to defaults.

No you can't:cry:

You cannot reset the ESC by ANY method. The software program does not recognise the ESC, so you cannot reset anything from the software program. You cannot even reset the ESC manually, You cannot set it to your transmitter or set anything by the setup button.

By trying to update the firmware it deletes all programming from the ESC, it then does not load the new firmware. This means there is nothing in the ESC to tell it what to do, so it is then useless and needs to be returned to Horizon

You do get the green light on the usb adaptor yes? It's a strange one but they are really good at getting stuff turned around.

You get the green USB light - red ESC light.
As I said you cannot set anything via the set up button or the software program and the ESC just refuses to do anything after trying to update the firmware.

Agree the sevice from Horizon was excellent, brand new replacement was received within a week:thumbsup:

The ESC has proved to be very good and the software set up very easy and useful. Just don't try updating the firmware at the moment

I race in Ipswich, do not have the ESC as it was sent back to Horizon UK and replaced.

Another racer purchased a combo from a different supplier the same time as I did. He also tried the firmware update, totally independent from me and had the same problem, he was left bemused as to why his ESC had "died". It wasn't till we got talking we found the problem had happened to both of us after trying to update the firmware. He also sent his back to Horizon and it was replaced with a brand new unit as well.

So we know the problem is in the update of the firmware, as we have both used our replacements, both used the software to change settings with no problems. We are not the only people using the Losi ESC at the club, the only difference is no-one else had tried updating the firmware.

Hi guys, I've just installed an Xcelorin into my XXX-CR. Due to the height of the speedo (with fan), the bodyshell no longer fits onto the chassis very well (the holes in the rear of the shell no longer line up with the body pins on the chassis).

What do you suggest? Is there a replacement shell out there that will fit the XXX chassis better with this speedo installed?

Cheers,
Paul.

In a 2wd buggy like the XXX you should be fine to run it without the fan on, but I am sure there some pictures somewhere on here with one fitted with fan to Danny McGee's XXX-CR a little while ago from a Worksop meeting..........

If you can't get it to fit you could always try using one of the other Losi bodies that also fit onto the XXX-CR. I've got a Phobia (#A8041) body on mine at the moment that gives you another 1/2" height compared to the standard body.

Don't use the body clips. Use velcro around the lip on the chassis

As you asked so nicely! Here are some photo's of the Phobia body compared to a standard XXX-CR body.

They aren't the best photo's ever as they are off my phone but I think you'll get the idea! I hope you don't mind my washing being in the background
