not sure what PW is booking yet but have found a nice novotel that is resonable on the price, looks really nice and is quite close to the track as well :)

Booked flights yesterday. Stanstead to Bilbao with EasyJet, out on the sat at 11:30am, back the sunday after at 12. Came to £60ish each way. Got car hire too through them so for me and the old man there and back with car hire for 8 days, less than £300. Result!

Hi.

I live at only 100m of the Novotel that you all are talking about. Is a new hotel, about 3 years old only. This Novotel is in Barakaldo, a city of about 100.000 people at 5 minutes by car from Bilbao and about 20 minutes driving to Carbi“s circuit. The airport is quite close to this hotel, about 17 km and highway bettwen both points and less of 10 km of highway from the sea port if you come by ferry.

The best points of this hotels are that the subway station is at about 10 minutes walking from the hotel and this Novotel is located in the middle of a big comercial area with big shopping mals and lots of restarurants... also McDonnalds and Burger King (In Bilbao this 2 brands are not considerated restaurants).

There are also one Ibis and one F1 hotels in the same area but in my opinion maybe is better if you look for a hotel in the center of Bilbao.

If anyone wants more information just ask me.

Best regards and happy new year.

P.S: Just for information. The week after the Euro (3th week of august) is the "Bilboko Aste Nagusia" (Means "Bilbao“s main week" in Basque lenguage) and is 9 days of non stop party in the street, speacially in the nights..

A couple of us was just looking at the Easy Jet flights. Does everyone plan to get all their equipment under the 32Kg baggage allowance? I spoke to easy jet and they said that you can pay for the extra 'sports equipment' allowance, but it has to be what they call sports equipment.....(in their list). DC kindly drove the bulk of equipment there last year...

may be a tip/may be not.........a good few years ago drove down and along the north coast etc. Parking overnight in Bilbao was a pain, we had to use secure underground carparks a good walk from our hotel, apart from that the people, food, atmosphere, was astounding.

at the recent EIR race we stayed at the local hotel ibis. was about the same as a premier inn and had a bar. have looked at bilbao they are about 62 euros a night there. will email PW about it as might get a discount for a group booking if that sounds ok to everyone ??

can sleep upto 3 in a room and beds were comfy

Carbi club has get an agreement with the nearest hotel to the circuit. Is a new 4 stars hotel very new. You can find all the information at www.carbi.net (http://www.carbi.net)

The president of the club Joserra, is also looking to get more agreements with other hotels.
