DT03 - Neo Fighter / Aqroshot opinions comments etc

Just wanted to start a thread asking what peoples comments and opinions on the Tamiya DT03 chassis is? (Neo fighter or Aqroshot Dt03t)

Its been out for a year or two - any longer term comments?
Any ideal hop-ups?
Anything broken yet?
How tough is that gear box with the gear diff?

My suspicion is that the DT03 is an entry / fun RC chassis and most of the people on here are more familiar with the racing kits. The reason I say that is that everyone here is so helpful that for there not to be a reply, it must be that no-one really knows. Me included.

I would agree with the above, its not looking like a full on race kit and more of a fun/basher.

however having said that it all depends on what your plans are, racing, fun, etc etc ?

Tamiya do a race for them called 'fighter cup' but I guess a slightly different form of racing to the classic 2wd buggy's on here

I own a dt03 neo fighter. It's a nice buggy. Very strong and handles well on carpet with minipin rears and low profile cut stagger fronts. A £6 HPI Firebolt 15t has powered it to A final podium finishes at Manor RC model club. It will never have the pace of my competition buggies but it's a lot of fun to drive!

Upgrades/hopups needed to race are as follows:

A drop of superglue to lock the stock servo saver.
Full bearing kit. I use real colour bearings from rcbearings.co.uk

SHRCCC ran a class for DT03 buggies for the first time this year at the DT02 Challenge which is a one off event along the lines of bit the German "Fighter Cup" you've mentioned. As said they're not dedicated race kits but with a bit of fiddling as 200SX says they can go very well indeed.
