Could just be a faulty part mate? Was the diff set too tight? Built properly?

When G & I built the review car he stressed not to overtighten the diffs, for just this reason.

Because the diff action is so smooth on the pred it still feels nice when too tight. The lack of spring washers cuts weight right down but does mean that the adjustment is very fine.

When be built it we checked adjustment buy holding the outdrives locked with drivers through the slots, then trying to turn the crownwheel. We stopped tightening at the point that my skinny fingers could only just make it slip.

The slipper is adjusted so that gives before the diffs slip. It worked for me as 6 months later I've still not touched the diffs, they are exacly as it was built.

I imagine you may be able to get a couple of spring washers in there, but probably not enough to take enough thrust to not lock out, making them just washers.
