he is getting it anodized tomorrow and will make the shell and battery straps tomorrow evening
the car is milled from aircraft ali and can take cells or lipos and a full size servo and has for cell positions i think and weighs the same as plastic b4
it took him four evenings on a hand mini mill!

the chasis will be insulated of coarse ala his durango:)
most chasis are conductive carbon
thanks

Rebelrc
11-01-2009, 09:15 PM

Rebelrc
11-01-2009, 10:18 PM
scott says he is running it at the petit rc, thats why he built it then its going away to be tested by a top driver then he will make the revised car on his bros cnc!

Rebelrc
11-01-2009, 10:25 PM
yes thats right scott had been looking for a photo of one of them from 2005 worlds and couldnt find it so done his own how amazing they look so similar cheers blitz boy
scotts has a detachable front so that he can put on an all new front end but thats still a work in progress
scott has a durango 2005 and will also be hitting everything on sunday at the petit

just out of interest how will the lipo fit? Will it be saddle?

Rebelrc
11-01-2009, 10:46 PM
yes they sit on the cell divider/strengthening ridge thingys and theres just enough room under the lipos for the required extra lead
he bought that b4 in good condition hardly used off of a good friend for £20 and the ali was free from his brother lewis the owner of team xtreme/pred , bargain just owes £20 and a few evenings i will have to get one of these mill things there only cheap about £200 looks like fun

12-01-2009, 08:50 AM
looks pretty ace, where do all the elecs go though? servo at the front but where does the rest go? :eh?:

lochness42
12-01-2009, 09:35 AM
ESC will go under rear shock tower. At least it looks like that from photos. If PT and receiver will fit there as well - I'm not sure about that unless ESC is small.

Looking good Scott!! Iv had updates of the build txt to me from Scott, if it goes as good as it looks he'll be on to a winner!!

I imagine it will run a Tekin speedo as it's small in size

Rebelrc
12-01-2009, 11:05 AM
On saturday it will have a big lrp brushless speedo thingy in the rear and ko receiver where ever the cells are not
he has made it from ali as it supposidley makes the car reassuring to drive and forgiving + durable + easy to produce/alter

Rebelrc
12-01-2009, 09:50 PM
Body shell is now complete and a very good/snug fit, very low! the roof is nearly level with the top of the servo saver
its a bit ugly but time is ticking:blush:
just a splash of paint and electrics to go
scott asked if anyone has any setup ideas for carpet for it, some kind of safe starting point
cheers:)

Rebelrc
12-01-2009, 09:57 PM
PICS of shell
the shells so tight the cells hardly need straps:lol:

Garry Driffill
12-01-2009, 10:05 PM
I got a few shells from Northy ages ago for my Prototype Atomic Carbon S2. The shell was made from Coke bottles moulded on 2 planks of wood and a heat gun that was used to forge the shape..

I thought that was low, but that is mega low!! - Nice!

Rebelrc
12-01-2009, 10:15 PM
Thanks ! thats how that one was done its functional and will look crisper and better painted:)

Garry Driffill
12-01-2009, 10:31 PM
Just a little short of funds at the time so it had to go  - It was really nimble and was pretty quick, gotta have been my most favorite 2wd ive ever had :)

Rebelrc
12-01-2009, 10:50 PM
That was a shame if it makes you feel any better we have all sold something then realised how great it was after then lost the photos:cry:
Scotts hoping to make this chasis/proper body/hardwear availiable for around the £70 mark but will probably need some encouragement as hes already planing a 4wd:lol:

Garry Driffill
12-01-2009, 10:52 PM
Cool, What 4wd based on?

Rebelrc
12-01-2009, 10:57 PM

Didnt you say a similar thing about the X-6

Car looks awesome though, great work!... if i sent him some 12mm thick plastic, reckon he could mill me one out :p

Garry Driffill
13-01-2009, 10:26 PM
Didnt you say a similar thing about the X-6

Yes,

Had to have been my most favorite because of the fact it that had alot of track presence being only one of only a few of the cars actually owned aside from any Atomic Carbon Team Driver prior to the car actually been in production and available to the general pulic ;)

I have had 4 different X-Factory X6 cars though

Rebelrc
14-01-2009, 08:49 AM
any ideas on a starting point set up for carpet (oils/springs/roll centers etc):eh?:

Rebelrc
14-01-2009, 11:00 PM
Some more pics just say when i am boring you!
the radio gear went in fine very tight but that is a full size servo/massive nosram brushless matrix/large KO receiver/lipo's
admittedly the receiver is on its side which is not ideal but its in and can be done.and under weight by 200grams
shell is proper ugly but it will get a better looking one if the car is any good
cant see why it wouldnt be but you never know
my favourite bit is the invisable vacced poly carbonate battery straps
hope it inspires the diy racer

well im pleased to anounce that scott made the F final today with his rebel car, it looked really good for a first time out, didnt have a single failer all day (other than driver) and more than made up for scotts rustyness and helped him to a good result as he nearly won the finals ;)

well done m8
