It is on right ?
I am probs bringing a mate from work who has loads of 8th nitro but he's really liking the brushless stuff and seems really up for getting a buggy.

And my other mate who I used to race with back in the day has been up today with his 17 year old cougar 2 'works' and it still goes ok ! He's just ordered a lipo pack so he will be racing at jarrow next week ! Vintage style !

Chequered Flag,
All details are correct. There a few tables, but I would bring your own. Plenty of chairs though and 240V, although long extension are the order of the day.

racdeaf,

mini spikes on yellow or there has been some success with yellow full spikes!

See you tomorrow

I might get some yellow full spikes to try as after watching my vintage 16year old footage of my cougar 2 it seemed to handle well on polished floors with long spikes !
I am struggling to find the right balance of oversteer to understeer with my b4

No one back then used anything but long spikes ?

gazc

my yellow mini pins on my b4 worked well on the carpet but all over the place on the wood last tuesday - got a set of yellow mini spikes to try tomorow, well as long as my wheels and foams turn up as phills models didnt have any! :(

tim - maybes full spikes on rear/mini spikes on front would work better for you???

I got some rear yellow compound full spikes only used once at york to bed them in alittle, £4 posted anyone?

dayxwalker
12-01-2009, 03:39 PM
Gaz when we used to use full spikes you had to wear them in as when new they did not work to well ! But they used to last months ! We used to take them out on the concrete and give them some stick
You can see how they worked on my vintage videos in the northeast section both the cat and cougar 2 had them on indoors
I am thinking that the full spikes have a flat profile but the mini have a curved profile which in theory means the contact area is less ?

Tim. The flat profile maybe the 2" version.Real old skool
Ive just ordered some 2.2" ones. They are the more round version. I will show you tomorrow.

Tremendous turnout tonight. Loads of new faces watching which is a good thing also.

Track was good as always.

I dont know what the A Final was like to watch but driving in it was really fast. The standard of driving is getting better week in week out.

1. James Chappell 18/315.32 Pred
2. Jeff Steele 17/306.71 BJ4 WE
3. Neil Adamson 17/312.63 Tamyia
4. Greg Williams 16/300.52 Pred
5. Chris Pattinson 16/301.71 Tamyia
6. Chris Stewart 16/302.52 Cat SX
7. Robin Calvert 15/306.43 Cat SX
8. Phillip Showler 15/309.57 B44
9. Stephen Adams 5/101.73 Tamyia

Yep, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The pace was really fast, but it wasn't a simple track, some tricky bits like the sweeper at the end of the straight with the chicane, and the chicanes after the first table top. Was excellent for picking racing lines. If only I picked the right ones!

Yellow Full spikes felt good.

It was clear from the practice session that everyone liked the trackas they were a few good comments about it ! I loved it ! It just had a the fun factor ? Not sure what that is !

My car went better this week but it's still tricky to drive back end is to loose !
I have ordered blue front and silver rear springs as everyone is advising and I have some lead for under the bat and some little lead weights for the front.
I also heard people saying they are turning down the steering rate ? Will this help ? Mine is 100%

Kash did you have mini pins or spikes ?

Kash
14-01-2009, 11:04 AM
I had worn spikes on Tim. If you want some help setting up the B4 let me know i had one for a few years so maybe i can give you some pointers

dayxwalker
14-01-2009, 11:09 AM
Kash yet help is always welcome ! When you say worn do you mean yellow mini spikes ? Just some use mini pins ! I tried yellow full spikes on the back and it was terrible.

Kash
14-01-2009, 11:24 AM
yeah yellow mini spikes.

tim the yellow mini spikes worked a treat on my b4 in the final. pity everything else went to pot in the heats... :( seemed to work better as they wear in. going to buy a new servo for next week so hopefully do better :)

Yes

turned mine down for 4wd from 85% to something around 50/55%

make sure you have left and right turning circles the same also using the EPA on your transmitter before adjusting the steering rate

14-01-2009, 06:45 PM
cheers will turn the steering down for next week ! Along with my new springs , lead , slipper clutch loosened ! It's getting there ! What rate oil is best ? I have 35 weight in front and back

Gaz I noticed that your cars not handling that good ! Didn't see it in the final. I think I am getting there with my settup maybe you should try what I am doing as it's just what experienced poeple are telling me ?

Really enjoyed last night, Track was great, however Pack took me out AGAIN. And as i was trying to push harder to keep up with james so i made a couple of mistakes. Should be a good regional in 3 weeks...

Tim you want 20 or 25 weight in the rear. 35 is crazy. Ok for the front though.

front blue/silver, oil 30/35
rear silver/green, oil 20/25

lead, sometimes placed in the space between the gearbox and rear shocktower, battery bulkhead

have a look through o0ple (http://www.oople.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=24) setups, maybe even ask in that section

and try here (http://www.petitrc.com/view_news.php?id=4533), look under Traction at the clay, slippy setups but use UK spec tyres

tim my b4 was horrible in the heats - new mini spike tyres werent worn in in first round and left everything else same as last week (it handled ok with old mini pins on then) and then my servo went to pot in 2nd heat. i think the servos been playing up a while as i put a borrowed standard servo in and the handling was loads better - the old one was juttering and going mental! anyway in the final it was a million times better - maybe due to reducing weight on front end and the tyres bedding in. want to try to get the car going as well as possible with minimum setup changes tbh (as i'll just get lost in a mine field!) but i'll try new springs and oil just to see the difference :)

Anyway at least I am getting there !
