hi,

have anybody more information about the new asso Truck?

would it be electric or nitro?

I hope it will be a opponent to the Traxxas slash!

try this (http://www.rc10.com/images/homepage/2009/sc10_360.html)

looks to have T4 front arms (arm has stand off on it like T4 arms) and T4/B4 rear motor gaurd so could be based on the T4 chassis

I will get one, I have never owned a T4 before this will be a first.
I'm hoping a class like this is picked up on.
They are gonna probably make it an "OPEN" class.
Cant wait to build it.

If these things are the same size as the Traxxas Slash then this might be a fun class. I believe in the States they run the Slash class with spec motors to keep the racing close. If the same could be done here it would be a good laugh with these thrown into the mix.

I saw this today, I was out earlier having a go with a mates Slash, it's fun to drive, more so with 8.4v though.

I wonder if I could persuade the guys down at torch to hold a heat if enough turn up.:D That would be a classic, all running spec motors:lol:

aaaah stock pussies, just run modified !

The limit is your skill and the grip, not how much cash you have for the best batteries/motors.

I'm just throwing my 8.5 Novak XBR in it when it arrives. It hasnt been used very much at all I threw
it in that touring car and it might never be used, so I might as well throw it in the SC10. Oh yeah
it has the sensored rotor/front endbell upgrade installed also, forgot I did that a couple months ago,
only had 2 runs on it. Then I looked on Novak's website and they discontined this esc.
Or the Havok basically took the place of it.

Someone said on Rctech that the slash wheels will fit the SC10.
(Practically everyone ignores me there so I stopped posting there.)
I hope so, so people can have more tire and wheel choices.;)
Also tower lowered thier price from $248 to $198.

I agree, at least for the slash class. I wont be doing much to the SC10.
The only thing I might do is use some RPM ball-cups on the turnbuckles.
Other than that it will be box stock setup, unless I have chassis slap,
which from the video above looks like it handled well with the kit oil.

These CORR trucks could prove to be a great low-cost class to get people into off-road.

Keep them brushed so the stock ESC's work, keep the scale tyre sizes, keep the enclosed shells, should be a lot of cheap fun with a little rubbin' thrown in.

I think Losi do a Desert Truck like the Slash and SC10 too don't they?

sure that gear diff will fit a T4 also. I wont actually load up on spares

At that rate the E 8th's might take off faster than the trucks.
A few guys have been running the E 8th's around here, they are cool,
but really expensive. I'm hoping this class takes off, and Id like the J82
class to get started here also, I saw one of those run and they are cool.;)

Advertised at £179 on CML and looks to be taking the Traxxas Slash head on.
Length :- SC10 550mm Slash 568mm
Width :- SC10 293mm Slash 296mm
Wheelbase :- SC10 327mm Slash 335mm

All seems pretty close to be coincidence!;)

Yeah but because it doesn't come as an RTR, I can see the validity in some peoples thinking that it'll not be a fair fight against a Slash as motorwise it's a free-for-all what you decide to put in it. I'm not saying people will leave their Slash stock but I guess many will - at least until they get taken apart by an SC10 with a 7.5 brushless running lipo cells.

A-Main Hobbies are listing it as being in stock 31st March, so if this is correct (rather than an "expected date") I guess we should see them mid April as Wezzer said earlier in the thread. What motors are you peeps thinking of running and does anyone know if the licensed bodies will be available from launch?

Most people will be running 17.5,10.5,13.5 in thiers.
I'm gonna run an 8.5 XBR in mine, since I still run nimh, just dont have the money to go lipo right now.
But I do have an extra metal geared servo that I can use too.
I wont start running it until people start showing up with them.
I'm not racing it against the slashes, dont want a pretty truck like this all beat up.

They keep getting pushed back, first I thought I would get it this week,
it might not be to the end of next week now.:bored:

Put extra spacers internally on rear springs. I think a 3mm should do it. The drive cup (at the wheel) rubs on the wishbone. Or cut away about 2 mm of the wishbone if you want to keep the droop.

Make sure you remove all of the burs right down to the front hubs. Even 1/2mm was rubbing/knocking on the inner spokes.

That's about it I think - can't remember much else, was mesmerised by the size of thing. Every time I moved it, there were tidal surges on the local estuary!

Well, here's mine at last...

Overall i'm Very happy with it, but... I backed it with Silver to enhance the Pearl, but i really wish i'd used White now. I used White on the Truggy i've got and the Green is soo much Lighter and Brighter, but i'm happy and i know for future.

All but the Black are Pearl Colours, so it really does Shine/Glisten Nice.

Any thoughts on which way to go here? The manual doesn't indicate anything other than black grease, but the setup sheet has a section for diff fluid. I've put some 50,000wt in that I've had lying about but it still feels a bit loose compared to a ball diff.

Spoolio
11-05-2009, 12:44 PM
Also - and related to the current thread on the Associated section - can I swap out the steering bushings for the same bearings as on the B4? Maybe it's just mine but the stock setup has massive amounts of drag even with the screws set "loose". Before anybody asks, I have tightened the servo saver bolt down as far as I dare, I'm mindful that the plastic seems to be a lot softer than on a B4, so I'm scared of stripping threads.

 the sun gear is keyed to the drive pin on the outdrive yes? I understand that putting a shim onto the end of the outdrive will "lift" the gear a bit and mesh it tighter into the planet gears but surely it'll also reduce the amount the gear sits on the drive pin by a corresponding amount. Isn't that a bad thing? I expect I'm probably wrong as usual so where can I buy these shims? So far I have finished each build step with no shortages but also (this is where you know its not a Tamiya) absolutely no spare nuts, bolts or shims. Remarkable.

Looks like AE have admited the problem so I guess if you contact either the shop you bought it from, or, CML they may be able to suply the shims.

I copied and pasted this from the USA AE site:

OK GUYS AND GALS, here is what was found out from our R&D department.

The material that the diff gears was to be made up off was changed to beige type material we have in the kits and the material cools differently, and sometimes when the part (ie:gear) cools after being molded it could have an extra hundred thousand of more space inside where the large spider gear are placed.

So in some of the gears when you take off you hear a clicking sound or when you turn.

Not all of them will have this, but some do and the ones that do should get me your info.

We have the shims that it takes to correct this and just need you to fax or mail me your address with the notation of SC10 Shims on it and I will send you out the shims to correct the spacing problem.

The RTR's will have the shims included in the box and if needed they can be installed.

We are talking about shims that are a couple of thou' thick, this shouldn't make much difference to how the sun gear sits on the drive pin should it?

You're right, I sat and studied the manual last night after I posted that, then I went onto the forums at RC10.com and read the "Modifications" posting there. It's a known issue and I misunderstood the positioning of the shim anyway. Now I really do get it . Told you I was probably wrong!!!

You only need to add 2 tiny little shims to make it work just fine, that's a lot cheaper than buying a ball diff. Also I think the SC10 uses metric bearings and the RC10 uses imperial bearings (though I have not checked that out yet)

:thumbsup:We just ran a class of SC10's indoor at Mansfield tonight. It was the best fun racing I've had for ages. These trucks are absolutely awesome. Mines an RTR but its got my electrics in now. Watch the rear wheels lads cos with the stock drive pins we had 2 trucks wreck the wheel centres when the pins spin inside the wheel. We put longer pins in and this helped a lot. Some of the americans are putting epoxy in the holes around the pin groove but not sure how good that is? One thing is for sure tho...these trucks are fantastic fun and handle fantastic right out of the box.:thumbsup:

sime46
16-05-2009, 02:31 PM
To be honest spoolio I found some in my box. I think they were the solid front drive pins from nortech racing for the Cat sx. Any needle roller than fits through the hole and is longer than the kit pins is ideal. Just match the length to the maximum you can get into the slot on the wheel. Washers between the wheel and nut and also the epoxy in the area around the slots would ensure reliability. Probably overkill but will keep you running. Other than this the trucks seem bullet proof. Watch the diff for clicking too. May need extra shims. Out of the 3 that ran last night, mine was the only one that did it. Re shimmed it and its perfect now. You'll love it. It is totally different from anything I've driven. Surprisingly it is dialled from box settings and has great steering and grip.

thing is, until H puts stickers on it, it will look custom, but there are CORR PRO trucks with more than 'block schemes' out there on the tracks too. I ain't saying an Andy Moore replica would work, but a more traditional flames or hotrod schemes will work, imagine how cool they would be, going round the track.

You thinking about including the trucks in the WRCA Craig, I think that would be wicked, keep it to kit tyres and a 10.5

What? you mean you wanted to vomit on it?....or suck on it!!! lol :woot:

Thanks dudes. Silly me, actually forgot I should have been keeping the shell secret!

Not sure wether to paint the wheels black or not? They look cool on some designs, but think I've got too much black on there and thnk that it may look too black.
Other than that, I think I may throw some alluminium finish paint at them. I don't like the look of the 'glittery' silver that the wheels are painted in.

BLACK WHEELS ROCK!!!

After recieving delivery 2 weeks ago, finally got the chance to run it yesterday. Brilliant fun.

I cannot believe how grippy the tyres were on an outdoor grass. The body roll and grip roll was immense, but funny too. Due to the design, on most occasions, it will roll back onto its wheels.

We ran 13.5T as a standard and were plenty quick enough on a large outdoor track. Pulling wheelies half way down the straight, if you catch the bumps right.

With the "squidgy" stock set up, trying to keep it in a straight line under power was both challenging and good fun.

We could change the setups, but we have decided, for comedy purposes, to keep the trucks stock, 13.5 and ease them through corners as opposed to throwing them in. The hard you throw into a corner, the hard the corner throws you out!

Need more about for a proper rumble!!!

So, I swiped the wheels and tyres off my B4 and put them on the SC10 just so I could set the camber and then I looked at the truck tyres and the B4 sitting there with no shoes and I thought...

The truck looks like some sort of weird-ass B4 limo or something with stock buggy wheels on it. I had to run them both just because, well, because I could. The truck was super-stable and I was throwing it round all over, no problems. Drifted almost as well as my old Tamiya Sand Rover (no-diff). The truck tyred B4 was as 'orrible as you'd expect. I tried that on grass and it just kept falling over.

it looks as if the SC10 may well create a whole new buzz class, like the early tamiya ta-01 based touring cars kicked off the on road thing in the early 90s.

i'm absolutely loving the scale looks, and all the youtube vids I've seen would indicate that they're a hoot to drive, offering some nice progressive sideways action. if someone could nail down a set of rules (10.5 or 13.5 motors only for example) this could well go massive.

I should have mine by the end of the week

Had to re shim the diff gears the other night !

Mine was a kit version and basically had done around 40 mins running before it went on the first run at broxtowe last friday ! The big shim that come with the kit had basically worn out in the center where the pin would turn around and semi collapsed.! Thanks Rich for the shim kit I was able to add a shim to re-inforce this part and the diff is now ok.

Ps after trying 3000 wt oil then 30,000 weight oil and then just the black grease supplied. I can say the grease supplied is the better.

Just think that you will have to check the diff every two or 3 meetings and change the shims clean it out and re grease as a precaution ! No big deal though !

It would be a shame if they started to get 'serious'.
Obviously the 'racing' wil be serious, but it should be in the rules that the only thing you can change is the shock oil and change to a ball diff.

Has anyone seen the SC10 up against the Slash in a club setting? I'm just wondering what sort of differences there are.

I've been reading about diff problems with the SC10 - one solution I read of was filling the diff with 40wt shock oil!

Put a shim behind the sun gears. 1 beind each is plenty. You may only need to do one. Mine came with a pair so fitted both. The sun gears are the ones attached to the output shafts.

Just wondering how the internals look after a 5 min race.
May be worth getting them covered someway? just to keep things clean.

Hi Tel, I have run the RTR SC10 review model for RRCI now and It runs very sweetly:thumbsup: (shims in) lol
30 mph on a reedy li-po out of the box. I ran it on a BMX track with lots of dust dirt and gravel. It ran very well with no damage to the guts at all and I ran it hard with over 2 hours of jumping etc I've now run both the SC10 and the Slash and have to say the SC10 run's rings around the Slash it terms of handling.

When I review the T4 some time ago I used a B4 buggy body cut to fit the longer T4 chassis, this work very well in stopping sh## getting into the guts. I'm looking to do the same with the SC10 but as the wheelbase is longer It may not work as well.
I'll post some photos as soon as I can get it sorted out

Best wishes
Ian Peckett

Been taking pics of mine for the RRCi Kit version today, and I must say that I'm tempted to do the wheels black. They look sooooo much better.

I thought Dez was doing the RTR Ian?
Did he have to give that one away too?
