I'm sure I could make a mount out of some gaffer and polycarbonate

Hmm, wonder if MRT could clone that for you?!
It'd save a bit of weight in your kart for you:woot:
thats either one small 50p, or a whopping transponder!!!

yeah, it is pretty chunky, but not massively heavy. comes with it's own charging station too!
I'll have to get more pics up of my kart next time I take it out. the steering wheel is particularly interesting. it's got one of these fitted:
http://www.kartingdirect.co.uk/shopimages/products/normal/Alfano%20Pro%20V2%202.jpg
.. which is uber cool. it has a sensor on the floorplate which actually reads the magnetic split loops on tracks and gives you splits & full lap times, plus engine temp (using a sensor that sits on the head), RPM & total run time for the engine.
not as cool as the 'mychron 4 (http://www.aim-sportline.com/pages/kart/section_kart_gps-module.htm)' though - which has in-built GPS datalogging, so you can view your laps in real-time after a run. bonkers :woot:
