I'm sure there will be plenty of new cars / shells around in 2007, here's my new paint, hopefully I will still be able to see them in the grass (tourer excluded !).

Come on Jimmy, if i've had chance to paint something over Xmas, than i'm sure you have too !

Andy.

Nice andy looking very smart:)

I hope to get a new b4 shell and get it sprayed to match my tc then when i get my x5 ill get that painted the same but i like to leave new shells just before nationals start so they arent knackered before the season begins.

Nice shells mate. Only had my current shell for 6 months but I think I may get a new one as for some reason, the paint on mine is coming up and leaving air bubbles underneath the paint!

I really wish i had the time and patients to do that, let alone the talent, i have them done by a guy in thailand called Luck, he is a star and its all air brush no stickers anywhere, you dont want to cover up any of the work with sponsors stickers :D

That looks simply stunning - love the colour scheme there! Have you painted an angry row of teeth along the front, or does it just look like that from this angle? Have you got a front end pic??

Well done anyway, loving your work (if you did it of course) :)

I thought the front looked familiar, must have money to waste, getting shells sprayed in Asia, lol, the guy must spray all day, every day, he must be using some of the Createx extenders and stuff.

TBH its cheaper to get 3 shells done by Luck than it is by any of the UK pro`s this includes shipping, and its something different. ;)

??? :eh?:

eh? How much did it cost you in total for 3 shells plus shipping then?
I need to know, 'cos I'm obviously not charging enough! PM me if you don't want people to know.

the photos just dont seem to do the bodies justice, when i first got them i just admired them:D

Im still very proud of them and know each one is a work of art that only a very small group of people can do

nice lines, is he cutting those pin stripes on the flames on the shell ?

telboy
05-01-2007, 11:26 AM
Apparently he does yes, not that saying he's not any good because he is, he's incredibly accurate and I'm working on getting up to his standards (not far off now!) ;) but surely its no more expensive to get them over here. I don't charge a great deal for the shells I do so i wouldn't think theres much in it.

Lee

Yeah i heard you were back on the solvents Tel:D

I got 3 shells done and shipping included its about £150, the exchange rate is good right now:)

Plus it is something very different and yes the pinstripes are all hand cut you can see on one or two of the lines where the knife has stopped.

I could do three shells with that design for less than that, put it that way.:)

Yes Jimmy I've had to, due to losing my job I need to make some money now and this is the only other thing that i do other than the design work.

I did put the airbrush away for a few months whilst i was working because painting shells and working didn't leave me much time for family etc. but now i can do the shells in the day time.:p

jimmy

agh, sorry to hear that mate, I have been made redundant three times over the last few years - games industry isn't the most stable thing ever! But to be honest, if it happened again then I'd do what you're doing and see what happened. Not painting shells, but doing my own thing I mean.

Hey jimmy you should just go into photography matey, why don't you set up a little shop on here selling your photo's?

Its the first time I've lost a job in 16yrs! so I'm not used to it. lol
it does feel good not to have to get up early for work though, and just work from home.:p

Good luck with the shells mate. I may well be contacting you soon about getting one for my car.
Jimmy, have you thought about selling some of your pictures through the site? If I saw my RC10 looking as good as most of them do in your shots, i would pay to get a print of it. You could do 8x10s right up to poster prints! Maybe do a bit of freelance stuff for RRCI or Racer or even do your own Bi-monthly review mag. Just a few ideas.;)

Problem with going Pro, is you got to keep the drive and imagination flowing and not burn yourself out. Hope it goes well for you though Tel.

Thats right, it can get a bit of a struggle thinking up new stuff, but most of the time people are just asking for their own designs copying. I used to hate doing the same design more than once but I'm not so bothered now, I'll just change a couple of things on it to make it look slightly different.

luck at shop ufo is simply awesome when it comes to painting shells but his designs can look a little bit 'samey'. plus I personally dont like the grills and lights, but a lot of people do, so who am I to say. also personally i dont think he does everything freehand like he says he does. I've worked in the sign/printing/vynil graphic business for the last 16yrs and I've been painting shells for about 10yrs in all now, and bearing in mind we used to have to cut ALL of our vynil graphics at work BY HAND when I first started working (there were non of the computer stuff back then) and Ive never seen hand work that accurate (not to say it can't be done though);) . All his stuff just look TOO uniform to be hand cut. I have seen some of his shells up close and there are knife marks on the shells, but even when you use vynil, some cutting by hand does still need to be done too. but that doesn't mean i'm saying that he doesn't do it all by hand though. just my oppinion.;)

DCM

that was absoloutely mesmorising.....

I do fancy a vynil cutting machine, just for the fact that it would be simpler to make symmetrical designs far easier.

it s the PL Mugen which is used on xray and hotbodies too.

http://mitglied.lycos.de/moosegreen/v11.jpg (http://mitglied.lycos.de/moosegreen/v11.jpg)

this is a h7 PL which is very similar to the h8
the PL hyper bodies are a bit chubby compared with the mugen :)

One of Telsshells on the grid. A LOT cheaper than £150, you don't wait 4 months and you get much better service (he even takes pics of your shell when you are trying to ruin his work on the track!).

Bang on if you ask me...
