Applying decals to body shells

My missus just bought me a re re Kyosho Optima for my birthday (I always knew she was a goodun).

It has a complicated set of decals to achieve the box art finish on the body.

What's the method for good decal application?

1. Just go for it.
2. Soapy water underneath then hairdryer.
3. Some other way....

Guidance required.

Soapy water and hairdryer works well. Allows you to initally reposition then stretch or slightly shrink decals around curves.
