Motor is a New Fantom V2 17.5 (lot's of rotor strength) also a new Tekin 7.5 something is going on as it's pretty damn noisy! Anyone got any tips to quieten it? The side gears are pretty quiet and are lubed. It seems that it's between the spur and pinion. Tried a new spur and pinion - still the same! wondering if there is play in the slipper shaft bearings or a bent slipper shaft?

The thread at the end of the slipper wobbles slightly, spur has a slight high spot where the mesh changes. Anyone else have that? Maybe answered my own question here, just wanted to know if anyone else has this?

Has it only gone noisy since the new motor was fitted ??
A little run out on the shaft is the norm

Yes. Thing is, both the Fantom and Tekin have much stronger rotors (magnetically) and i'm wondering if that is highlighting the noise issue? When running at constant RPM its fine, but on 'overrun' (letting off throttle) it sounds 'stuttery' like there is backlash in the drivetrain.

Neither are cogging on acceleration.

puzzling me-i like quiet cars!

My KC is also a little noisy. I've changed all the side gears and aluminium casing, still noisy. It's not too bad but I prefer a very quiet car.

Raced last night and it sounded fine, it made noise but nothing excessive at all. Happy now :-)
