Interested in peoples views on whether to purchase named/branded used electrics e.g. Muchmore, Corally, Orion; for the ESC & Motor mainly vs budget new e.g. Trackstar etc.
Trying to get set up for winter series on a tight budget
What are your thoughts/opinions please?????

Thanks. I will keep my eye on the for sale section. Worth being patient perhaps.
When i got back into racing last year i was on a budget and got the gen2 120 trackstar speedo to get me going. A few months after i had a bit of spare cash and upgraded to the corally 160 cerix and felt no difference between the two. I think you can't go wrong with the trackstar. I've just got a 1 cello version for my gt12 for winter.

That's one of the budget ones I was looking at the Trackstar gen2. Good reviews for the money.

I ran hobbyking speedo, think it was turnigy trackstar stuff for quite a while, only started to change things as I wanted legal motor for BRCA regional, then to be perfectly honest I fell into the brand name trap LOL
I have hobbywing 3.1 esc in mine and they great, do everything I need, about to change to maclan... no idea why other than I fancy change LOL
but the turnigy stuff is brilliant value
the BRCA legal shorty lipo at 28ish quid are great

Thanks Tonydevon,
I have heard the trackstar kit is quite good and it would get me and my son up and running as we have two classes each to kit out !

Another vote for the Trackstar gen2 speedo, I use them in 2wd and 4wd and they've been great, it's worth getting the program box for it as well.
There's a few others run then at Caldicot who are happy with them too

Thanks PeetBee ! I used the older Trackstar 120a Turbo with the box a couple of years back and it was great.

I have 2 program boxes at home to cover each of the turnigy esc I believe,
you welcome to them if they any use as I just accidently bought maclan gear... ooops LOL
the android phone app saving me 30 quid for a program box was the decider :)
wont be at mendip for a while as Im doing mid devon, trac and swindon mainly this winter, but if you get stuck I post them to you
mendip will be very very quiet over winter, they clashed dates with the 2 biggest indoor meetings in southwest

I'm in the same boat, i've a pair trackstar turbo v2's (£55ea) in a 22 3.0/b64 running 10.5t motors and they are perfect for my racing needs. The tuning options with the card (£9) is great and when running with fellow racers with the v4 hobbywings etc you wouldn't be able to tell the difference in terms of speed.
