How much difference between tub chassis and full on race spec car

I have a TB02 and was wondering how much difference I would notice as a total noob that has never raced. Sure the TB02 is fairly heavy, but are the T4's and TRF's just useful for the more the experienced racer that knows how to set up a car properly?

I have never owned a TB02, but I always heard/read the (ball) diffs were rather delicate even in their time (2005-ish, before LiPo and brushless and when many touring cars in fact still had ball diffs). So first of all, I wouldn't run modified with it.

Besides this, the TB02 is shaft drive, whereas most competition touring cars are belt drive.

You'll probably feel the difference between an older club racing spec car and a modern, full fledged competition tourer even if you're not an experienced racer. That said, racers who know what they're doing could probably win with a (near) standard TT01 from guys with the most modern gear. I'd just try it out and see if you like racing :)

It's like everything in this world it's horses for courses
A shire horse is great at pullingbheavy loads but no use on a racecourse and vice versa

Tb02 great starter car and tough for beginners but as you advance you will do better with a race designed chassis x-ray,Schumacher,yokomo or what ever takes your fancy

Only advice is buy something as current as possible for spares back up cars go out of date easily and then can be difficult to source spares for

Race it first, then you will have a better idea what to buy. Rather than potentially wasting several hundred quid

As above. When you start racing you dont need anything top end. You just need to do 5 mins without hitting the barrier. Only then should you upgrade.
