I heard a rumour that there was some testing with a 1/8th scale Buggy running Brushless and something like 10 cells???

Can anyone confirm this?

With the way things are going on brushless, i could imagine they'd be seriously rapid....... and if they've got the cell capacity to match (imagine 10 or 12 x 4200 cells) i can't really see the benefit in running an Engine personally..... (just thinking of Maintenance, Clutch set-up, tuning etc) obviously i can see the appeal with engines, and wouldn't expect it to ever go out, but battery powered 1/8th cars running loads of cells and very fast motors would be pretty awesome i reckon.

there have been quite a few 8th buggy electric conversions, ranging from MASSIVE brushless motors with 10 or so cells, to 2x std sized brushless motors with 2x LiPo cells.

from what I hear, all of them are fast.

the big fun thing with Nitro is the long finals, 45 minutes up to 1 hour in some races. and the mechanical brakes with a nitro car are great too! nuts in fact!

Might be worth having a quick look around here. http://www.finedesignrc.com/ They seem to know what they are doing when it comes to 1:8 stuff.

Pure madness! They'd be awesome on some of the 1/10th Tracks that currently don't allow them due to Oil etc, would be cool to get one going at CML raceway

Aha I like your thinking Chris

Just imagine how good they'd be on the jumps with proper acceleration :D

I am going to be selling off most of my nitro stuff but keeping one of the GS SUT trucks for a future conversion. It would be fun to see it race against the nitro trucks! Pure torque, no noise and no smell (except from the drivers rostrum!).
