I didn't us any of my masking on the wing, I just use the protective flm that comes on the shells. anyone els tried this?
manufacturers should put it on the inside too, it'd save time.:)

Crikey Tel, I did one but with different colours and is isn't the easiest of design to pull off the web (cause of all the stickers). There must be loads of TRF501X's Lookey Likeys, roflol.

Nice job though!!

Would love to know how you got the highlights in the pink.
Great job.;)

just use red for the dark highlights and the lighter parts are just whats left blank from doing the pink REALY THIN.

Easy realy.

I've just done a jimmy replica and will post pickies when i get the chance.....just to keep Neo happy ;)

Yeah DCM, it is a pain in butt trying to figure out where the lines are going because of all the stickers on the original.....bloody sponsors!

Hey, that’s my shell!!:D

I have just received this very shell from Tel, and his pictures do not do his work justice!

IMHO the it is an easy match for any Takashima Design shells (yes I own a couple).

I will post a couple of pics of it on my TRF501x in the next couple of days.

Good work mate:)

Thanks colin, its always good to hear your work appreciated. I forgot to send you some stickers, I'll get some in the post for you.
When you get some pictures of it could you drop me some to my e-mail please, the shells always look better on the car.

Thanks again.

the protective film would not stay on the lexan because this side will be on the form i think .... i think this is the reason why there is only on protective film

the colour seems to cling very good!!! do you thin the colour ? how much pressure do you work with ? do you abrade the laxan ?

Thanks chaz,

moose,
I don't scuff the lexan, I used to but then everyone I knew that did shells too never said they did it and they didn't have any problems....so I stopped doing it, and I've never really had any problems. Obviously if you hit something hard enough, the paint will come off regardless of wether you scuffed it or not. For faskolor I use a pressure around 40 to as high as 100psi for some colours it depends on what needle you use. I do thin some colours I use the clear windolene to thin it. for solvent paints i use around 35psi and thin with cellulose thinners.

Here's my 'Jimmy' Replica. not the best of photo's....Neo its on its way... :)

I never scuff them either, all it does is dull the paint.

With Faskolor, I find that as long as the shell gets a good few days in a warm place before use, it sticks realy well, shell goes before the paint.

Yeah, snap. I always *arm* the shells up before AND during the paint process all the shells are placed in front of a heat scource.

*Should say warm! :)
I think its my keyboard and not actually my spelling, sometimes it doesn't put the letters in when I type.......thats my excuse anyway....nd I'm ticking o it !
