im so glad i clicked that link
Ha ha.
I was hoping for some pictures, it must be a few years since they were on the NW regional calender. Im just VERY curious about the venue and plans they have, as with no info and the presumption it'll be the same as the last event I went to of theres - i'll gladly stay at home (sorry).
Do any of the members or committee visit this forum? If so please do shed some light and generate some excitement!

click the videos Chris!!
I'm quite sure the club will put on a couple of very good meetings.
It's quite a different set-up they have up there now to how it was in years gone-by.
Those us us that have been to NE regionals know a very-very good meeting can be put on by a small club with a grass venue.
I'm really looking forward to the new season, with three very varied venues.

Personally I can't wait to race at South Lakes - it will be a challenge and something different to race on.
A bit disappointed at the "well, I am not racing on that" attitude - it's certainly not a good way to encourage new clubs into the series.
I suspect Chris is referring to rain at the track at Crooklands?

It's been a few years since we have run a regional, as the last few have ended up as a wash out. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us this year.
In terms of the track etc, if you visit our website: http://www.southlakesmodelcarclub.co.uk or go to our forum: http://slmcc.freeforums.org you will be able to see some racing from the venue (with a nice banking) but the track will be on a larger scale for the regional.
All of the members have gone to a lot of trouble to organise the event and we are all making the effort to go to the other regionals in the NW so hopefully we will havw a good turnout.

Hi Tom
there will be a reasonably large contingent from Southport making the trip to South Lakes, I am sure as long as the weather is good (anything other than wet!) it will be a very good event.

It was an unfortunate time of year, in that the field ran on then was previously over grown and with the wet weather leading up to the event - the grass didn't get mowed as low as would have been nice. Plus then it was a washout... it got worse, as the M6 southbound was closed and by the time I got home personally I was sooooo frustrated... not the clubs fault, sorry.
I do hope it turns out great, a flat grass track and baking hot sun will be a lot of fun :)

The track is on a school playing field that is smooth with the occational dip and bump along with a banking that we use as the rostrum and a banked corner. It all makes for a challenging track that is a bit different from what we used to run on.... a flat bit of grass :)
The club is really looking forward to puting on another regional and a couple of weeks before the event we are going to have a dummy run to make sure everything goes smoothly and we have managed to get the school involved to supply food and facilities. Just have to hope the weather is on our side for the first time.

No probs, it will be good to do some decent size meetings again. Can't make bury, but looking forward to racing at Southport again.
