There's a lot of posts floating about at the moment about people adding various amounts of weight to their cars with lipos.

However there doesn't seem to be a lot which actually mention what the final weight of the car is. - Quite a significant factor bearing in mind the difference in weight between different lipos.

So what do peoples car's actually weigh?

And perhaps more importantly, what weight would you want it to be? - As the title says I'm interested in 2wd.

I'm currently just over the minimum weight limit at 1480g (approx 160g lead added.), but am wondering whether the car would benefit from increasing weight further to aid stability outdoors.

My plastic B4, with an Orion 3800 LIPO weighs just on 1543 grams ready to go. Which is give or take 5 grams different to last year with NIMh's.

To get it up to this weight I have used Rymart Racing brass front bulkhead and rear anti squat block. At present I have two sheets of tungsten under the battery which are 139mm x 47mm x 0.42mm which adds around 100 grams, and there is space to fit another sheet of the same size adding a further 50 grams if I feel like it.

I think some of it will come down to where you can put the weight and how high some of it goes in the chassis, using the tungsten plate has kept the weight low down, and with the Orion 3800 I haven't had to modify anything to get the battery strap in which was important for me as I hate having to spend time filing things that have been molded to supposedly fit the application!!!

Where did you get tungsten sheet from?

Have been looking myself but yet to see anywhere that does it for a reasonable price.

Thanks

My new X6 squared is now running at 1740g all in which seems good for low grip indoor. Only ran 2 meetings tho so still testing different positions and amounts of ballast. It equates to around 220g of lead at present onboard. Sounds a lot but its going really well.

Everybodies favourite auction site!!! There are a couple of companies in the UK that will supply it in 150mm x 150mm x 0.5mm, prices vaired from £120 to £360 with anything up to two months wait on delivery. The biggest problem you will find is cutting it, with out it shattering, delaminating, or cracking, and you will definately need something more heavey duty than a cutting disk!!!
