I'm surprised he let that slip through the net after the fun and games he had with his Cat mate. His SX was cursed. His bmax seems blessed. Went really well wed night on its debut. Got me thinking about one......

chokoboy-

Definetly looking good mate, but you got the ballstuds in the wrong way on the front shock tower. When you run the carbon fibre shock towers, the ball stud has to be reversed.

Take a look...

How much air would you get over the motor and esc if you cut out the vents on the Azarashi shell? Standard shell is a bit poor in this regard, BRCA rules say you can only cut the marked vents.

Grape, you are going to have a hard time finding one, they are very rare... I've only seen a few go by and they weren't much of a bargain. Better start saving up for a new one...:o The basic car kit is relatively cheap and from what I've seen building my Factory team kit, I would have no problem whatsoever giving the all plastic kit a shot in racing the plastic parts are of outstanding quality!:woot:). I'm sure it would do fine. Then later on, you can buy the few essential upgrades like metal shocks, roll bar, etc...).

Good luck looking for a roller! You never know...

Yeah, I know it's a long shot but just trying while I'm waiting on the payment for my B44. I've been looking at just getting the basic kit and adding big bore shocks because I know the alum. parts aren't necessary and I work part time at my local track, so I can get ti turnbuckles cheap. Might just put my losi shocks on it for the time being. Wish I didn't have to add another 60 bucks just for shipping on a new kit though.....

My standard B-Max with a few nice bits added. Shell was rushed in the freezing garage, so it's a bit of a mess :(.

First ever Yokomo i've had, very nice build, although the shell lexan was as thin as paper in places !

Many thanks to Bury Metro club, which is where I won the car in the Christmas meeting raffle :) And many thanks to CML. The front propshaft was bent in the kit, so I e-mailed CML and they promptly replied and sent me out a new one :)

Put on a set of Disco Stu's carbon towers today, very nice and 5mm thick so I'll have to go some to break those bad boys!

Thanks to Stu for sorting them out for me

Available from Xtreme RC in Deal, give Les or Ed Kerry a buzz if you want a set.

Not really a problem. All other cars are even more open around the spur.

I like adjusting the slipper to the feel of my finger, so this helps me alot. Also, it makes it easier to adjust the diffs right.

mes
07-06-2012, 06:42 PM
Not so tidy yet! :p
I've got a shorter sensor wire coming together with my son's new radio (MX-V, scheduled for next week). ESC Rx-cable will be shortened as soon as the contact pins arrive that I intend to solder onto the Cirtix next to the fan connections. Battery cable will be replaced by one without balancer cable as soon as, well, the cable and slotted connectors arrive.
The battery mounts are from the Ansmann X4. You only need to widen one of the holes a bit.

Naushad
07-06-2012, 09:00 PM
To be honest your setup looks good!

If you going to place a transponder it could go on top of the servo.

I would really recommend a rear anti roll bar...just makes handling much easier in my experience

mes

Thanks! I'll probably include the anti roll bar set in my next order. :)

mes
09-06-2012, 03:36 PM
First run today was pretty good. Kit setup wasn't too bad, and my son soon became more confident with each lap. For him, practice ended when he crashed into a sand-filled plastic tube at the end of the straight after track layout had been altered a bit and the right front arm and steel steering turnbuckle broke. I ordered some spares, titanium turnbuckles and the sway bar kit. We'll be better prepared when we (literally) hit the track next time. :D

mes
16-06-2012, 09:56 AM
That's more like it! Replaced the (broken) steering link with titanium rods and shortened the wires Connections on the Cirtix now accept ordinary servo plugs to adjust wire length to other cars - I wished that something like that would be possible with servo wires, too!
Shocks are also new (used) ones from a roller I bought dirt cheap on the rcweb forum. As I'll probably not enter 4WD until early next year, I gave them to my son - letting them in the box for so long would be a total waste.
Oh, and there's a new Speed Passion heat sink on the motor! Cooling fan will be added as soon it arrives. :)

Hi, which Finnisher have you ordered? If its the B44.1 I don't think it's wide enough for the B-max. The B44.1, 502x etc are a lot narrower than the Yok. Another option is the original 511/502 shell with a bit of trimming.

Update: The B44.1 Finnisher doesn't fit in the front. I wonder what B44 body I tested...

I think the B44 shells would be too narrow. I once fitted a Tamiya 511 shell to my bmax and the width was perfect. I now have a b44.1 finnisher shell fitted to my Tamiya 502x but it wont fit with the tamiya undertray (shell is too narrow). The only undertray that will fit is B44.1 Proline Bulldog. I know ita bit complicated but it's what is needed if you want to run that shell.

I guess the lower edge might have been more flexible due to the steering link cut-outs...

Toni Rheinard told me the B-Max4II body is available in his store, so my painter will have something to do very soon.

Too bad the German Yokomo EU store is not up to date, I bet better (obvious) parts availability would improve sales a lot... :(

What springs are you guys using on mid to high grip astroturf and on carpet? I've tried red (F)/blue (R) from the B-Max2 on my B-Max4 to some success on our low bite sand-soaked astro, which are supposed to correspond to the original greens F/R. Is there any need to use stiffer ones or do you think greens all around are just fine?

Thanks a lot! Busty astro is on bumpy tracks, right? :p
I just checked the sping chart again. As it seems, front reds and oranges are the same, and blues correspond to greens. I should be fine with my B-Max2 spring sets.

Update on my new body: It's a new old one... Am I expecting too much when I order a B-Max4II body at the official distributor's shop and want to receive a B-Max4II body, not a B-Max4 body?! As I had it shipped directly to my painter, it is too late now to return it, of course. The fact that the paint job is not the one I had ordered is yet another story...

Edit: My son absolutely likes the new old body, so we swapped. I'll post a picture of the B-Max4 duo as soon as the body is finished!

Looking forward to outdoor stuff again. Might give it a blast at Chadderton next month.

david, what do you mean with hard chassis and top deck ??

The latest version, the 'WN' comes with two chassis/top decks. One normal and one hard. The hard is designed for high grip. Carpet and astro etc.

I purchased them separately and fitted them to try.

Guys.

Anyone point me to the best place to buy diff and thrust ceramic balls for the B-Max4 ?

The ones in the kit are dead after just 2 runs - obviously steel nonsense !

Also sizes - anyone know for sure the sizes of the balls :)

How close a fit is it? My 44.1 shell is way off at the front end, too short to reach the front corners, and the rears suffer the same a bit too...
