Car breaking away

Hi Guys,

Has anyone come across this, when applying the breaks the car pulls to one side, what i mean is turns left or right.
Last night when goin down the straight or round corner, the car wanted break away when applying the breaks.
I'm not sure if it the front end thats the problems or the rear just wondered if anyone new what it could be.

The surface im running on is just carpet

It had hard impact last Worksop meeting, when Jamie Booth Smashed it on the straight.
So that prob be why but how do you sort the tweak on buggy bit diff to touring cars.

Bent screws on the wishbone hangers? Front or rear...

Check that none of your shock shafts are bent and that you have equal droop on each side.
Then check for bent suspension pins etc by making sure that your suspension arms fall freely under their own weight when you remove the shocks.
Check the damper nuts and bolts through the shock mount - make sure nothing is bent or is preventing the shock from moving freely.
Does it always go the same way each time?

Other than that, make sure all 4 wheels are bolted up tight and are getting equal drive - no slipping diff etc.

I wouldn't have thought the chassis is tweaked - but I've had a bent shock shaft - not enough to prevent the shock from moving but enough to cause more stiction and perhaps slightly less droop.

If nothing is bent then as wraggy posts are you running a front one way diff ? Replace it with a normal diff and try braking then. With a front one way you,ve got to slow into the corners and power out or they will send the back out every time. I had this in my tourer and had to go back to a normal diff.

No i dont run oneway in the car its diff all round.

I will have look over tomorrow thanks, yes it always pulls to the right when applying the brakes, i will check all the shocks etc.
the car handles well still jus when i dab on the breaks it jus pants.
You mention the diff mite be loose, is that when you hold the one wheel front belt part feel if it slips slighty or should it not slip at all.
Im not diff expert on these, still learning this elctric game :blush:

It could be a bent screw, hinge pin or/and shock shaft. It could also be a burst bladder in a shock (if not all 4 are cut already), toe out on front wheels, uneven weight distribution (unlikely).

There'll be plenty of people to help you tomorrow at Worksop, and plenty of time, just bring it over to any one of us lot and we'll give it a good check over.

My vote is on bent wishbone hanger screws, almost all the SX's I've seen close up are tweaked- I thought they came like that :lol:

Well i think i might have found the problem but thought i run it past you guys first.
Everything seems fine apart from the 10deg caster block i think you call it.
Well it is built up on the wishbone move it round it catchs it one certain spot on the wishbones just rubs against it, do you think this could be causing all my problems & the screw was bent that side too.
Ive replaced the screw but not sure if it could be the deg block or wishbone is slighty out if you know what i mean.
Ive tried to compare it the the other side but cant really tell.

I know what you mean mate ;) the hinge pin blocks can bend ;)

I think mine has the same problem but havnt checked it out yet. Ive been really struggling on slippy surfaces like worksop and I took it out on Ikea car park the other night and when putting the power down it just spins and always in the same directions and similar when breaking. Do people think I should check the things listed in this thread or anyone have any other ideas? Ive really been struggling to keep the back end from spinning out at worksop and just thought it was my driving but after testing it the other night Im not so sure.:confused:
